Posted on November 22, 2011 at 08:50 PM.
The puck dropped for the new season in the city of Toronto. Their foe, familiar, Northeast Division rival Montreal. The Leafs would strike early with a break away goal by third liner Fredrick Sjostrom. Sjostrom was able to recieve a blue line pass behind the Canadians defense for an easy breakaway goal in the first period. American defenseman Mike Komisarek would answer with the last two goals for the Leafs. Both slap shots that would find the top shelf past Montreal net minder, Carey Price. Price would receive the brunt of the shots in the game, saving 18 of the 21 Toronto shots. While, Toronto goalie, James Reimer would record his first shutout of the season with 13 saves. Toronto will welcome Ottawa to town on the 8th still with out newly acquired star and former Ottawa Senator, Jason Spezza. Spezza will see action a week from the game against his former team, reports the Toronto medical staff.
