(*PARODY*) MLB 2K11 Features Stuck
Posted on October 13, 2010 at 06:29 PM.

The MLB 2K series hit the ultimate low in 2009, becoming easily the worst sports game of this generation (maybe aside from the never-to-be NBA Elite 11.) In 2010, they made an even greater leap than NBA 10-11 in my opinion, though because the starting package was so atrocious, this didn't mean much for MLB 10. The series is definitely on the rise, and is just starting to provide a fairly acceptable alternative to non-Sony users. Nevertheless, if they want to put SCEA's amazing title out for good, the need to take the steps that VC took for the NBA. Which is why they should do this:

(FAUX FEATURES LIST)

MLB 2k11: The Greatest of All Time is Back!

1. The first mode in a video game dedicated to Babe Ruth since before video games! Now, his Bambinoness can make even more money from the grave! Introducing:

a. The Ruth Challenge - Play 10 defining moments from Babe Ruth's career, like "The Shot," "The Arrival," and "The house that Ruth Built." You will also get to play the backstory behind these games - Drinking until 2 in the morning the previous night (which will make a certain challenge difficult because the visuals will recreate the feeling of a hangover the next day), choosing your brothels, and participating in hot dog eating competitions. The better you do in the challenge, the more hot dog competitions you participate in, and the more hot dogs you eat, the better you perform (aka steroids.)

b. The Babe: Creating a Legend. - When you have completed the Ruth Challenge (or enter the code ILUVBEER3), you will unlock "Creating a Legend." In this mode, you take Babe Ruth and play with him in today's Major Leagues. Can you imagine a lineup of Teixeira, A-Rod, Ruth, and Cano? Or have him pitch in a rotation with the Doc, Oswalt, and Cole in Philly? Or will you redo the wrongs of 1919 and keep him on the Red Sox? You can put him on any team you want. You will come into the league with an 80 rating at pitcher and 65 as hitter, and you can build him any way you want. You do not participate in drills, like in My Player. You don't even go through the minors. Instead, you talk to all your bro's on the team and ask for advice in "conditioning." You can juice up on steroids going to the Barry Bonds School of bloated heads, or learn from Manny Ramirez about being Manny. Or, you can just stick with hot dogs and teach all your other teammates how to DAWG UP.

c. MJ IS BACK... AGAIN! - Yes, Michael Jordan makes an appearance in MLB 2k11. You get to retire from the Bulls and sign a minor league contract with the White Sox, just as the real Jordan did. In the 11th Jordan Challenge, with a rating of 32, you have to average less than .200, and make as many errors as possible, so you can convince yourself quickly to go back to the Bulls. This will unlock a mode in NBA 2k11 called The Jordan Challenge Part 2, in which you do a bunch of commercials, mess up the Wizards, and get enough money in endorsements to buy the Charlotte Bobcats or any other available team. If you are still unsatisfied with the amount of Jordan material, you can also play pickup basketball games with stars like Jeter, Pujols, Ortiz, Sabathia, and Lee. And if you still aren't satisfied, then f*** off!

d. Then we did a bunch of stuff that you don't care about. We revamped the analog controls, expanded the MLB Today, Fixed My Player and Franchise, added an extended ball physics engine, made huge graphical improvements, and added Move and Kinect functionality.

e. You can also play classic teams against current ones in Play Now.

What can I say? We made the biggest leap of this generation, we added Pizazz, we made a big attempt for you to have a reason to buy the game, and yes, we are so original.

You're right, a Ruth Challenge (or Mays, Aaron, Cal Ripken, Nolan Ryan, Mickey Mantle, you name it) might be fun, but what I am pointing out is it would be ridiculous to just do a copy of NBA 2k11 because it was successful. They would have to make it original.

Don't know if that kind of logic would work in baseball game like it did for basketball. I mean in baseball games we already get classic teams and classic stadiums, so doing this as a standalone feature really would be a waste. Babe ruth was the MJ of his time, but if he played now, wouldn't put up those same monster numbers he did back then. Guys are just better now then they were then. Now they are faster, stronger, bigger (babe was 6'2" 215) and the fields were shaped different as well. Any way I'm
Digressing, babe Ruth in the Yankees now at his talent level would still only bat 6th in our lineup. To put in perspective, what if A-Rod, Ryan Howard & Albert Pujols played in his time.....good idea, funny as he'll to read.... But Jordan is the NBA. Only other game I could see this being with is hockey and greztky.
