WINNIPEG, MAR. 5 - The last day for NHL teams to make trades to improve their rosters arrived. And it passed without a lot of buzz, with some teams making it clear that they want the cup and want it now.
Well, and others making it clear that they're willing to wait a little longer.
Both San Jose and New York Rangers made the moves with highest impact (with both sending their first rounder of this year's draft), but the best was saved for the last moment, when the Anaheim Ducks parted ways with veteran forward Teemu Selanne, shipping him to Saint Louis in the last hour of the deadline. Florida and Columbus also did 2 deals with different teams, but those deals had more future implications and not that 'win now' vibe we could get from San Jose and New York.
Perennial contenders Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles also boosted their rosters. Teams who keep falling short like Boston and Pittsburgh seemed OK with their actual rosters.

The Jets, after doing 4 trades earlier this season, didn't receive or make any offers.

COLUMBUS acquired a 2014 1st round pick (SJ), C C. Lalancette and D D. DeMelo from San Jose

NEW YORK RANGERS acquired LW Matt Moulson and LW Matt Cooke from Minnesota
MINNESOTA acquired LW A. Duclair, a 2014 1st round pick (NYR), and RW J. Fast from New York Rangers

LOS ANGELES acquired RW Cody Bass from Columbus
COLUMBUS LW Dominik Kubalik and D Nick Ebert from Los Angeles

FLORIDA acquired a 2014 1st round pick (CHI) and G Antti Raanta from Chicago
CHICAGO acquired D Ryan Whitney from Florida

FLORIDA acquired RW Teemu Pulkkinen from Detroit
DETROIT acquired D Tom Gilbert from Florida (I wonder who the Panthers will put in their defense)

SAINT LOUIS acquired RW Teemu Selanne from Anaheim
ANAHEIM acquired LW Yannick Veilleux and G Fran�ois Tremblay from Saint Louis.
