So like tens of you before me, I'm sure, I've made the leap to the PS3 finally after years of stalwarting. I love my 360 and the HD DVD, and streaming netflix and all that, but there's one thing I love more than all of that combined, and that thing is BASEBALL. And 2 weeks of 2K9 slugfests and freezing finally sealed the deal: here I am Sony, kneeling humbly before you (thanks for the $200 credit though).
So please, pretty please, pretend I'm your best friend's kid and walk me through step by step of what I need to make my MLB THE SHOW 09 experience the best ever.
Thanks in advance!

- How / where do I download update rosters?
- Should I use sliders?
- I'm not an "online" player much, so do I really need to subscribe to Sony's "not xbox live" or will I be able to download updates / rosters without it (like from a cpu to flash drive to the PS3 via USB)?
Thanks in advance!

I'm in a similar boat to you. I picked up my ps3 last week, not entirely for the Show but let's just say it was the straw that broke the camels back.
Anyways, the ps3 has built in wifi so getting online is pretty simple if you have a wireless network already set up. I'm not sure if you have to set up a PSN account for downloads but again, it's really simple and you might as well.
Rosters download as soon as you enter the online portion of the game and it will ask you if you want to save them for offline use. I haven't even touched the sliders yet to be honest and I'm having an amazing time. I played a game last night that went 17 innings..

I have both the 360 and the PS3, and for some weird reason I feel more like an adult when I play the PS3. Don't ask me why, I have no explanation for it.

2. That is all relative, I personally have been playing the show for 3 or 4 years and for 09 I play on all-star out of the box with no tweaks. Play around with the game first before messing with sliders.
3. You don't need to subscribe to sony's "not xbox live". Sony's PSN is free, and all you have to do is create a username and password. You will need a PSN User ID to download rosters and sliders in game online. You still have the option of downloading things off the internet and putting them on a USB thumb drive, but I find it easier to just do it right from the game. Besides you'll want a User ID for downloading demos and such from the store.
Welcome to baseball heaven! Enjoy!
