INDIANS MOURN THE PASSING OF THE LEGENDARY HERB SCORE

CLEVELAND, OH --- The Cleveland Indians and Team President PAUL DOLAN
have issued the following statement regarding the passing of legendary
HERB SCORE. The 75-year old Score passed away early this morning at his
home in Rocky River, Ohio.=20

"Today is a sad day for the Cleveland Indians family and for Cleveland
Indians fans everywhere. We have lost one of the greatest men in the
history of our franchise. Generations of Indians fans owe their love of
the Tribe to Herb Score, who was a powerful pitcher and legendary
broadcaster. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and the Family."

Score pitched for the Indians from 1955-59 and won the American League
Rookie of the Year Award in 1955, going 16-10 w/a 2.85 ERA in 32 starts
(245SO). He followed up that campaign with an even more impressive
season in 1956, going 20-9 w/a 2.53 ERA in 33 starts (263SO) and made
the American League All-Star Team in both seasons. He also led the
league in strikeouts in those seasons and was 2nd in both wins and ERA.
He later pitched for the White Sox from 1960-62 to cap an 8-year Major
League career.

He then went on to become the legendary "Voice of the Indians" for a
34-year run from 1963-1997, the longest tenured broadcaster in the
history of the Cleveland Indians franchise. Herb retired after the 1997
World Series and was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame in
2006.

Details on service arrangements and a memorial mass will be announced
later today.
