FINAL NBA2K12 FULL PLAYBOOKS / SYNERGY SCOUTED PLAYS
Posted on February 13, 2012 at 04:18 AM.
OK Guys,

Here we go again! After hearing the "SIM WORLD" rosters was not going to use the complete playbook suggestions I had given them and wanted to go with a different direction that I didn't necessarily agree with, I decided it was time the whole community gets to use these plays (IMO it should have been like this from the beginning). They have set there playbooks up more for association factoring in trades, sim stats, etc. My playbooks tailor to every team and player on each team as well as real plays that each team uses. I wont keep a play for a team because it has there team name attached to it if they don't run it. I will also use the same plays like a CHA 1 Chest because it is one of very few plays that every team will run every game. Its a basic top of key PNR with 3 guys on baseline. Every team uses this play. So, this will be on most teams playbooks for familiarity reasons when users want to switch from team to team. The Celtics have no players with ISO's as a play type (although Paul Pierce could have this) so I wasn't going to waste 3 plays with iso's that they would never be called in a game. I also put focus on all 30 teams and not just the top teams or individuals favorite teams. You will see the same attention to detail with the Pacers, Nuggets, and Bucks, as you do with the Bulls, Heat, and the Lakers.

So, below I attached full playbooks along with each players play types and the coaching profiles that go directly with USER vs CPU games. The SIM results might not be at 100% with these but gameplay is dead on! All play types for players have also had synergy sports data inputted to make sure the right play types are being called for each player. Now more than ever before the editing of rosters will factor in more when teams go into freelance. With the coaching profiles I have tested each team for a good 4-5 hours each in game to make sure the teams play like real life. Now, some of these will differ from everyone elses but for USER vs CPU and with these playbooks these got the best results IMO. For example you will see the Suns with a 80 in run plays. You might think that doesn't make sense but I have 22 PNR for suns and Nash's touches and tendencies factor in as well as his play types and like Da Czar stated on his radio show he has never played a better game and seen Steve Nash run that many PNR and he killed him for 29 and 9assists. That was my goal was to get each team to play true to life like they do NOW, not last year, not in a video game, or to factor in trades in a association.

I don't think alot of people realize the huge importance of playbooks inputted in this game! The removal of 354 bad plays which is over 30% of the total plays in the game itself make this game playable again. The playbooks tied in with coaching profiles are a huge and IMO the most important edit in the game to get realistic play on the court! The tempo slider in coaching profiles acts as a shot tendency and how fast a team moves the ball, how fast a team will take a shot, as well and most importantly the teams chances of taking a shot if given just a little space as compared to tight defense. Test these at 100-85-70-50-25-0 to see the results yourself. IMO no team should have anything higher than a 90 and no lower than a 55-60.

Now all PS3, XBOX 360, PC Users, can all use real playbooks with whatever roster they want!

As most people know by now I am a basketball coach and I have been coaching for over 12 years. I have always had a passion for basketball and X's and O's. I have a coaching book I started when I was a kid some 20 years ago from my playing days, breaking video down, coaching dvd's, etc that has well over 500 pages in it. I call it the coaching Bible. There are easily 4-5 plays/quick hitters on some pages and they are on front to back. I added a good 30-40 pages to my book during my scouting data from mysynergysports.com. My point is I love the details in plays that most people dont see. I watch a game and rarely if ever watch the ball. All I see is off ball movement or help defense. LOL! So, trust me in the detail I have put into this! I have put over 60 hours in just testing plays and a good 300+ hours totakl in putting this together.

So, with all that being said...

I have taken the previous playbooks with extended plays and I have dove even deeper than before. I have scouted every team and watched thousands of plays for every team in the NBA to get the most realistic playbooks yet. I have every team done, but I will need to copy everything over in the format listed below and transfer my information to make it easy for EVERYONE to use. These playlists have ALL broken plays removed.

Every play was scouted, charted, and broke down with mysynergysports.com. It accounts for all play types for each player as well. You can see below that I gave an example using Paul Pierce. I wanted to keep as many plays as possible for each team that were team specific such as 76ers PHI plays etc... BUT I was not going to keep plays that 1- didn't fit their personell 2 - Were plays they dont even run or run that often. So, I decided to add plays that teams actually run and run alot then keep plays that they don't use. I went off of data from games played this year. Team play percentages, players play type percentages, etc...

I started with Pick N Rolls for every team. You will see the best PNR plays used that each team uses. You will see the best double horn screen plays, PNR coming from side, wing, angle, top key, etc... If a team ran a PNR from the top of the key with 2 shooters on the strong side and they ran it 25% of the time they received 2-3 plays in their playbooks with this exact play. There is no reason to keep all these bad PNR plays with bad spacing that work but are never used in real basketball games. I want to make sure the CPU is executing at a high level and has the highest percentage of executing each play.

Stay tuned as I will be up****** this blog daily with teams finished as I get all their info inputted and transferred onto my CPU. I hope you all can enjoy these few teams to start and I hope you all enjoy all my hard work! I am excited to hear any and all feedback. If you all liked the last playbooks then I'm sure you will love these. 1 last thing I want to add is you do not need to use my coaching profiles BUT i suggest you do for best results with USER vs CPU games, but definitely make sure all the play types and playbooks are the same for the best results as they do tie in together for each team... I should have all teams entered and complete by this next weekend. So, check back daily...

ENJOY!

*side note some of the original work was based off of the sim world rosters such as original play typesthat were given out. Most stayed the same from version 1 and some changes have been made from version 1 to this the final playbooks. Also the base for coaching profiles is also from the sim world rosters.

Again Amazing contribution to the community. One of the best efforts I've seen personally for the NBA 2k series I thank you

I agree with Tomba. As a fellow basketball coach who loves 2K12, I concur with you that a lot of ****** gamers don't really the importance that the playbooks play when playing a game and getting a realistic simulation out of it.

Keep it up ! ... the 2k/OS/PS3 community is in debt !

Thanks for making this game play amazing. Your dedication is appreciated. Quick question are you gonna make a sort of "hybrid" roster and include these plays with the new sim world roster due before allstar break?

Thanks guys! I will definitely be inputting these playbooks into my own roster file from finished SIM WORLD rosters but I am sure I will be making my own tweaks from my notes to the file as well. If someone else wants to do like what Hurdinator did with inputting them and uploading for the community than have at it. I don't want to take away from the direction they (SIM WORLD) wanted their game to go and their vision of it. To each their own... I have it all entered in now from version 1 though... :-) But no I won't upload that either because I have massive tweaks that have been made compared to their file... We'll see what happens though...

I really appreciate the work that you did with this. The game plays absolutely amazing with the Sim-World roster that Hurdinator put up and to think that it will be even better than that after these are added....Thanks!

Ok, first off, this is awesome. There are so many plays that I run when playing ******ly, where the whole shot clock runs down before the play develops, or it never even develops to the proper player, etc.

My question is (I'm sure it's a dumb one), can I download all your playbooks and coach settings from 2kshare or do I have to manually enter them all from reading this site? If manual, any idea how long it generally takes for 1 team? My XBox time is limited these days, unfortunately.

Thanks for the hard work chief.

I'm getting really lazy, as I read the blog and scrolling down in my mind I was saying "please be on 2k share, please be on 2k share dang". Lol I'm really excited for this and your roster file what do you plan on naming it?
