SEASON OVER FOR BILLS STAR HB
Both the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins are having themselves a great season so far and it's not just because the Patriots are no longer in the division. The Bills have the stingiest defense in the NFL so far, only giving up 288.9 yards (1st) and 18.4 points (3rd) per game. Offensively they're scoring 32.4 points per game (4th, only 2.4 pts behind #1 KC) and are 3rd in total offensive yards.
However, the Bills offense has been relying on the best run game in the league to both win games and to extend drives to help out the defense. The stellar rushing duo of LeSean McCoy and Mike Gillislee has combined for 1,190 yards (148.8 yards per game) and 8 touchdowns so far, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
That duo just took a big hit as the Bills front office today reported that LeSean McCoy has a torn pectoral suffered in their week 6 game against the 49ers. The injury will keep McCoy on the sidelines for 30-40 weeks, meaning his season has come to an end.
With McCoy out, Gillislee saw an increase in carries against the Dolphins in week 7 and with some designed runs for QB Tyrod Taylor and a few runs by James White, the Bills were able to rush for 126 yards. But the points were missing and the Dolphins won the game 27-24 with the game winning field goal coming in overtime.
The Dolphins lost in Seattle in week 1 but has since won six straight, the last being the OT win against the Bills before heading into their bye week. The Bills are still 1st in the AFC East, but with McCoy out, that might change soon.
Also, someone should tell the Jets (1-7) that the new San Antonio franchise will have the #1 overall pick in the 2017 draft no matter what, so stop tanking!
Week 8 League Injury Report
