2016 Backstory #02: Top Ex-Pats Find New Homes

It's been a tumultuous offseason for the ex-Patriots players all of a sudden finding themselves without a job but the offers have not been few and far between as the other 31 NFL teams have tried to take advantage of the deepest free agency the league has ever experienced. The top two targets have now decided on where they'll play next season.

Tom Brady grew up a 49ers fan and the 39-year old has now taken the opportunity to follow in Joe Montana's footsteps � Brady's big idol growing up � as he will take the field wearing a 49ers uniform next season. Brady signed a 3-year contract worth $42 million but neither Brady nor anyone else knows exactly how many of those years he'll actually play.

Brady's favorite target, Rob Gronkowski, has already decided on his immediate future and like Brady, the league's best tight end is returning home. Gronkowski grew up just outside Buffalo and today signed a 3-year deal to play for the Bills. That's not going to go down well with at least some Patriots fans...

The top two targets may be off the board, but there are still plenty of talented ex-Patriots players out there looking for new homes.
