M17 Expansion Franchise: Theory put to the test
Not too long ago I posted my
new approach to setting up an expansion franchise in Madden 17 (but it works for 16 and 18 as well). After doing a lot of test franchises while creating the guide I was finally able to start my expansion franchise for real (no more testing) and followed the guide I had made. This blog/dynasty is based on that franchise. While creating the guide I had some lofty ideas about increased immersion and enjoyment and finally playing my franchise for real allowed me to test those ideas as well.
The main idea that's been with me throughout all the work I put into this has been
Storylines. My claim is that by creating storylines, you create immersion. It's hard to feel connected to a 3D model with numbers attached to it but if he has a storyline attached, he becomes alive.
So, I took this claim and put it to the test; As I simulated through the first season of my franchise I spent a lot of time taking notes on injury reports, transactions, results, standings and so on. Additionally, I wrote several 'articles' on the upstarting new expansion franchise throughout the season to give it a timeline and a sense of progress.
The first year of the franchise is now done and this dynasty thread is the result of the first year of simulating. I'm thinking about writing a guide on how I create immersion through storytelling and if I do, I hope this thread can contain examples of what I'm talking about in the guide.
All the entries of the franchise/dynasty will be
here under the dynasty tab. Enjoy!
