It finally happened...Scott made it to the bigs. After playing one year in AA, one year in AAA, the Pirates finally recognized Scott's raw talent and brought him up to the majors. Beginning the year as a second string 3B, it didn't take long for him to make first string. After his first performance review, Scott was promoted to starting 3B and batted cleanup behind Albert Pujols.
The year started off with a bang with Scott having a steady over .400 batting average with homers coming in about once every 3-4 games. When he hit them though, they came in bunches with two 2 homer games. Scott focuses on his power against right handers moving it up to over 90 and his contact vs. left being around 85. Speed is low, but this is something Scott wants to work on in the upcoming season. With the year now over, Scott won two awards based on his stats...first, his stats.
Avg. .381
HR: 28
SO: 27
SB: 0
RBI's:
Scott led the lead in Average and was awarded both the National League Rookie of the Year award and the Silver Slugger award. With spring training right about the bend, the Pirates have high hopes for the young slugger. Too bad he wishes he still played for his home team favorites, the Baltimore Orioles. Oh well, there's always trade deadlines to look forward to.
