MLB: The Show - Road to the Show
Wednesday, March 31, 2021
Today, Trevor Tinker, Jr., a 5'8" 165lb, switch-hitting second baseman, was drafted by the Marlins organization with the 3rd pick in in the 15th round of the amateur draft. Tinker Jr, eager to play pro ball, opted to forego college, sign his meager minor league contract and begin his road to The Show with the Marlins AA affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

I finally had a chance to watch the feature premier video for the upcoming installment of MLB The Show and while what was shown looks like a welcome overhaul to fielding in the game, there are a couple of things I noticed that I’d love to see adressed some day, hopefully in MLB The Show 22. To establish a baseline, to make you feel comfortable that I have an opinion I guess, I have been playing The Show since 2008 or 2009 and have bought every version since then, save for last season’s ... This is the story of Trevor Tinker, Jr, a promising young prospect in the NY Yankees farm system, trying to carve out a spot for himself and maybe, one day write his name in the history books.
Tinker, Jr, a 5 foot 7 inch, contact hitting, speedy second baseman, begins what hopes to be a long, successful career with the Yankees AA farm team, the Trenton Thunder. At age 18, he went through the showcase games and was drafted in the second round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, Trevor ... Read More

So, after a number of games played in RttS, I've come across a few annoyances that drive me crazy and I wanted to put them in writing.
1) I've been added to the 40-man roster for my MLB team and have been called up in September the last two seasons. I'm only getting pinch-hit opportunities, so this last month of the season is brutally boring. What's worse, there are times when I'm inserted in the lineup to pinch hit and then get stuck playing as the catcher in the next half of the ... Read More

In anticipation for MLB 12's arrival tomorrow, I am putting a soft close around my MLB 10 career.
Since the last post after the 2016 all-star break, Trevor's career has hit HoF status and, at only 29, he is the top player in the league with 2 WS rings to his name (Texas, Arizona).
After winning his first ring with Texas and then falling a game short in the WS the next season, Trevor said goodbye to Texas and signed with Arizona. Things didn't start too smoothly, but Trevor's ... Read More

Trevor Tinker is this year's Home Run Derby Champion! He hit 40 total home runs, including a second round total of 20. His longest HR was 473 feet.
Wow, what a year so far! Last year was a breakout year, but this year is turning into a HOF resume-defining season! We just reached the All-Star break, with my Texas Rangers atop the AL West, 11.5 games up on the 2nd-place A's, and I'm pacing this team with a .458 average, 29HR and 102RBI. I'm looking at snapping the RBI record this season, along with the hits record.
For reference, here's last season's full stats vs this season's 1st half. The increase in pace is amazing:

Well, 2016 is starting off very well for our young left fielder. After losing the 2015 world series in 6 to the Nationals, Josh Hamilton was somehow allowed to leave (he ended up with the Red Sox) and our other power hitter from last year is failing to produce, leaving Trevor to pick up the offensive output. So far, he's not disappointing, having just finished April with a .452 average to go along with 9 homers and 24 ribbies. Here's to hoping the hot bat continues, as it doesn't look like the 2016 ... Well, 2015 has ended in disappointing manner. After finishing the regular season atop the AL West, the Texas Rangers went through the NY Yankees and then the Chicago White Sox to get to the World Series. Of all teams we could go up against in the World Series, our opponent is the Washington Nationals! I still can't believe it. And what's worse, they beat us in 6! Ugh! The silver lining, I guess, is that I was awarded the AL Playoff MVP. In my first postseason, I ended up with 26 hits in 69 appearances ... Read More

So, here we are, the all-star break, with my Texas Rangers in a tight battle with the Angels for the AL West lead. After a sub-par start to the season, in which I could barely keep my average above .250 during April and May, I started seeing the ball well; at the halfway point, my production is up and I was able to raise my batting average about 90 points, to .346.
The other good news is that I've managed to stay injury free this season and have already more plate appearances than ... Read More

First three episodes of The Pacific are in the books and so far, pretty good. I was expecting Band of Brothers for the Pacific theater, but it's definitely it's own thing, with very few similarities to the style of Band of Brothers. It is definitely comes across as more of a character study and more outwardly emotional in comparison to the first three episodes of Band of Brothers, well actually, more so than the whole of Band of Brothers (with the exception of episode 9, Why We Fight and a couple ... Well, 2014 has finished with my Texas Rangers coming up short in their bid to win the AL Wild Card. We started September 10 or 11 games out of the wild card behind Boston, Oakland, and one other team I'm forgetting right now. September was arguably our best month as we ate up ground, but ultimately we came up short and watched from the sidelines as the Yankees won another ring.

My first 2 MLB seasons have ended after 275 at-bats with season-ending injuries. In my 3rd season, I went down again, only this time it was after about 70 at-bats, with a torn shoulder! Really going to have to work on my Durability in the offseason. The worst part is that I think my bat was coming around after a sluggish start to the season.
I absolutely love MLB's RTTS mode. So addicting! I thought I'd try posting updates and momentous events around my RTTS guy, and what better way to start than with an introduction and career history to this point.
