Officiating Has Totally Ruined The NBA Playoffs
Posted on June 13, 2010 at 12:13 PM.
Seriously, what ever happened to Basketball being a contact sport? What happened to 'No Blood No Foul'? The fouls being called in this years playoffs are no where near the playoff fouls we are used to seeing in the early 90's or even early 2000's. Year after year it seems as if the players get bigger, stronger, and faster but the fouls get softer. What ever happened to the days where the Kurt Rambis Kevin McHale foul was just that? Just a foul. Now the fouls are so soft a hand touching another hand is considered a foul. Come on really? What happened to the days of the Pacers versus Knicks where if anyone came in the lane it was a guarantee they were going to get clocked. Nothing got me more angry than the Kendrick Perkins technical foul ordeal. First off that foul he got called for was totally not a foul. He was holding his ground making sure his opponent didn't get an easy look. Then to top it off his totally unnecessary technical foul took the cake. I swear it feels like the officials have bigger egos than the players, the officials think that the fans came out to see Joey Crawford tech the teams best player for a hand touching another hand foul its rediculous. These "fouls" have totally turned me off from the NBA and until David Stern realizes that these are the greatest athletes in the world and if they need to be protected from getting hurt they have no business playing the game it will stay this way and probably become worse. It's a shame that basketball used to be the greatest sport in the world, now it's as real as the WWE.
