What is the Most Athletic Sport?
Posted on May 21, 2011 at 02:19 AM.
A couple of friends and I were having a conversation over sports when suddenly someone belts out the question: What is the most athletic sport? To me this answer seemed simple enough and without hesitation I responded with the most sensible answer, basketball. My friend sided with me on this however my two other friends responded with soccer. It ignited a whole argument of athleticism, how it is interpreted, is it physical, is it also mental, a whole debate erupted which spanned the whole night with no clear cut answer. My question to OS, which I'm sure features many athletes not just armchair quarterbacks...In your own opinion which sport is more athletic? I would be interested to hear arguments and reasoning.

ridemooses. goalies in hockey out of shape? are you kidding me. they are the most flexible people in sports? and defenders out of shape? do you watch or play hockey. I play defenseman in a pretty competitive hockey league and goalie in a lower level league and would disagree with you wholeheartedly.

boxing by far!!! anybody feel different go to a gym with a ring and just walk and run around for 5 minutes non stop and see how your legs feel. shadowboxing alone will have your arms dead! you have to train for months just for a 12 round fight. all the rest of the sports you could just get up and play but if you ever actually tried boxing I promise you would agree

again....how does boxing require more athleticism than MMA. MMA is boxing...plus wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai, judo, kempo, etc. hands down, MMA requires vastly more than boxing

With soccer your talking about conditioning. But if your asking what sport is most athletic, it has to be basketball. The running and jumping ability of these guys is crazy compared to what other "athletes" have to do. Yeah soccer players have to run a lot. But how often do they have to jump as high as they can. Basketball players do it on a consistent level. Add the ability to be able to use your hands. Soccer takes the highest level of conditioning by far. But as far as pure athletes, basketball.

Soccer, If you are old enought to remember the Sports Battle, a Soccer player won almost every year on ABC. Run for 2 hours, strong and agility.
