PS3 in 360's rear-view mirror
Posted on September 1, 2009 at 09:20 AM.
When the latest group of game consoles hit the market the ps3 was overpriced with a lack of quality games at or near its launch. The Playstation network was still pretty much a joke to microsoft's xbox live and it's games only looked as half as good when compared to it's top competitor. Many even had the nintendo wii higher on their lists than the Overated Playstation 3.

Now 3 years later, things have changed. The wii has been forgotten as nintendo has done as they've always done; market to the elementary school kids and advertise their product as a family entertainment system and the 2 heavywieghts are slugging it out several rounds into a championship bout. The 360 came out the gates swinging, and swinging often while Sony took a Muhammad Ali type approach saving it's strength for the later rounds. Now with exclusive titles that are unrivaled and beefing up the PSN our games and online component are finally respectable.

As a longtime fan of Sony the wait has finally paid off and we're finally seeing some strong capabilities out of our 3rd generation system but these next few years are the most important to finish strong if we want to get out mcrosoft's rear view mirror and take the lead in the console race.

The funny thing is that anyone with maturity and vision could see this coming. I don't hate on the 360, at all. It's just not the system for me and I knew the direction I was going in when specs of both systems were announced. I always though MS was shortsighted and it is proving so, more and more where as Kutaragi is/was a mad scientist who has vision. The 360 has great games but the overalls were not worth it to me from the controllers (Dreamcast ripoffs, which I never liked to begin with) to the "out of the box" value.

Yes, the PS3 may have "stumbled" out of the gate and even some of Kutaragi's arrogance may have turned many off but I just knew it was a matter of time when the PS3 would have it's day in the sun and, possibly, eclipse the 360.
I love what the PS3 has shaped up to be and can't wait to see what else the future brings.
