Can EA really turn the Madden franchise around in one year?
Posted on May 17, 2009 at 06:00 PM.
i am a football enthusiast and avid gamer so mixing the two to make video game football is a huge passion of mine. i have spent every day since the first shred of new information about Madden 10 was released researching the internet and any other source for the details on the next installment hoping and praying for a legitimate football sim to play the way i did on last gen. ian cummings mission statement to create the football simulation that gamers like me have been dying for was enough to pull me in and since i've been hooked, even after i swore i was done with EA football after again for the third straight year having spent $60 on the joke that has become madden football. But, the real question is: Can EA really turn the Madden franchise around in one year?

I don't think they can, but they can take a step in the right direction.

good feedback, football is definitely a chess game, not checkers. looking off defenders is what all experienced quarterbacks do, why should it be any different in Madden? How many times do you see a rookie step on the field off the bench and stare his receivers down? ALL THE TIME! What happens? defenders love it and use it to their advantage by jumping routes and zeroing in on the ball. BRING BACK QB VISION OR MAKE IT OPTIONAL FOR REAL GAMERS TO USE!

For all the "good" news they're releasing, I just don't see the turnaround.

They're still playing catch up with features from the last gen of consoles, the nature of the game will remain the same as AI adjustments seem more like tuning and they seem way to proud of the little things they have done visually.

....probably a step or two in the right direction but no leap forward.

I hope they can, but I've come to expect little from Madden.

I don't think Madden 10 will be groundbreaking. That being said, I think Ian is a great addition to the Madden team since he seems to care about making the game more realistic and less cheesy

I'm a huge footballl fan. Madden is the only reason I even have an Xbox 360. I think they keep make baby steps forward in the series with little tweaks here and there. I too concur that the vision cone was my absolute favorite feature that should at least be optional. I can relate to you trufootball. I go to work and start looking for any scrap of new info I can get on Madden 10 the minute the first sentence is written or screen is posted. I bought the May Gamepro and watched Gametrailers for the world premiere. So here is hoping for the ultimate sim experience.

Ive been playing Madden since 92, and EA only made hard pushes toward real life gameplay when they had competition (ESPN 2K5). Now that they have that agreement with the NFL, they will always make minimal strides to make the game better. They know that if they make the best "football game ever" people will be content and they would fear a decrease is sales. Wich i think is dumb, If you are going to make a Football game .... go all out! Play games with gamers that like to play Tiger Woods Golf! Give the Number 1 sport in America the Number 1 game sim of all time and stop playing checkers. Heck we just got our sports broadcasters back after not having them for 3 seasons. EA keep taking things out and later putting it back as if its a new feature. LOL yeah right! These guys need to step it up Big Time!!!!!!!!!! But, they have done more so far this year than they have done in years wich is good.... but its also pretty SAD!!!!!
