Conference Realignment
Posted on September 12, 2012 at 07:46 PM.
Conference Realignment was made official today with Syracuse and Pittsburgh joining the ACC. Syracuse will be in the Atlantic Divsion and Pittsburgh was placed in the Coastal. The new Big East has officially been revealed. Playing in the East Division is Cincinnati, Connecticut, Rutgers, Temple, UCF, and USF. The West Division will be comprised of Boise State, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, SMU and San Diego State. The Big East will not use the protected rivalry format, and the best conference record will host the championship game. Like the Big East, Conference USA revealed it's new look today, and unlike the Big East, they have chosen to use cross-division rivalries. C-USA East will have ECU, FIU, Marshall, Southern Miss, Tulane and UAB. C-USA West is made up of Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Tulsa, UTEP and UTSA. The cross-division rivalries are as follows: FIU-UTSA, UAB-North Texas, Marshall-Rice, ECU-UTEP, Southern Miss-Tulsa, and Tulane-Louisiana Tech. Best conference record will host the conference championship game. We will have six independent teams this year. Joining Army, BYU, Navy and Notre Dame will be Idaho and New Mexico State. The Mountain West welcomed San Jose State and Utah State into the conference. Texas State is the newest member of the Sun Belt and after many years, the WAC has dissolved as a football conference.
