Why Don't We Just Combine NBA 2k and NBA Live?
Posted on August 25, 2012 at 08:07 PM.

Yes. I said it. Why don't we combine both of their development teams and just make one BIG and dominating brand name video game for basketball? I wonder what they would think because it seems like EA doesn't have it in them to have their own "good" game like they used to have many years ago. If they combine, they can just change their names to just EA 2k. Well add in the other companies like Visual Concepts and you'll have one GREAT game.

The NBA 2k series has definitely dominated the basketball video game genre and it looks like nothing is going to stop them at this point. Heck, EA Sports hasn't even released a game in 1+ years, so that shows the monopoly they have in this industry. I have one big idea that I have just thought of if these two companies combine their dev teams. This will make the ultimate basketball video game out there and nothing, I mean NOTHING will be able to compete with it. Here it is.

Why don't we combine NBA 2k's already-successful game with NBA Live's online systems?

I know NBA 2k has always struggled online and this has been the main gripe about the game. Not having Crew mode last year also killed the online game a bit. I really don't like the online 1 vs. 1 system they set up and if only the team ups had an actual lobby to get into. NBA Live had a great online system already set up, but their gameplay was just terrible. I or nobody would be able to take a game with bad gameplay even if they had great online features.

Well, that was my big idea I came up with for a long while now. What do you guys think of it? Maybe you can help expand on this if it will be good for the industry or not, combining two of basketball's game developing teams into one mega-team. Let's hear what you all gotta say! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to read on my blog and hope you come back soon!

Well if they could/would do something like that which I sincerely doubt could be pulled off, let's go one idea higher and do the same for football as well!

I second the football suggestion! And I would just like live's graphics in 2k, that's it.

That's actually a good idea, esp for the football! Imagine the presentation of 2k with the game of Madden? That'd would be a GREAT game! Since Madden bought out the license we'll see if this will EVER happen though, cuz it would be a monopoly on the industry. But actually, who cares if there is a monopoly cuz US fans would be playing an AMAZING game!

I think the best part would be just the face that they wold have more people working on the game, meaning double the development for a single game! It's a great idea but doesn't seem likely, unfortunately.

@lunaoso

If they double the development on the game, means that it would make the game progress much faster as long as everyone does their work! This also would mean that more things can get put in the game and hopefully what the fans are craving for. But the best-case scenario for all this to happen is if NBA 2k hires the online programmers of EA and we're basically set!
