Possible Reasons Why The Lakers Aren't Playing Well Right Now
Posted on March 21, 2012 at 12:34 AM.
The Lakers are currently on a small losing streak since the trade deadline has passed and are 1-2 since Ramon Sessions and Jordan Hill came onto the team. It's not their fault, but it might be a team thing. Here are a few possible reasons why they aren't playing well at the moment:

Their Rotations Have Been Readjusted After The Trade

Ever since the trade deadline, and trading away former staring point guard Derek Fisher, they have had to make some adjustments to the rotation of the team with the bench being a little bit different. Ramon Sessions is currently a bench player and coach Mike Brown has stated they would start Blake for the time being. This may be a small adjustment, but it is affects the team in a big way because the team has to mess with different lineups and know which players work well together or not. Before the trade, they had already found a solid rotation of lineups that work in certain situation. But since the trade happened, and they lost their starting point guard, it has been a little different since then. This may be a reason why they are struggling a little bit recently.

Kobe Takes Over Too Much, Players Getting Lazy

Everyone knows how good Kobe Bryant is. They know how much of a superstar he is and they may sometimes just trust him a little too much. When Kobe goes on an isolation against a defender one-on-one, everyone tends to just stay in their spot and watch. This shouldn't happen because everyone should be moving around just in case Kobe needs some help. They should wait a certain time, and if nothing is going for them, everyone should realize they should keep moving and cut to the basket for some easy score if Kobe finds them. On the other hand, Kobe takes the most ridiculous shots in the game, and it shows in his field goal percentage. Whenever he has to take over and nobody does anything, that usually leads to a Laker loss. He also has to realize he is not the only person who can score on the team, and that this is a team game. He definitely has to pass a bit more.

Lakers Don't Take Advantage Of Their Big Men

Lakers have such a height advantage over every team having Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum on their starting lineup. Those are two skilled 7-footers that can score easily in the inside and out-rebound everyone else! The Lakers should take advantage of this by giving it more to Pau and Andrew in the post whenever the other team has a small frontcourt. They should just use Kobe as a decoy on offense and just give it to the bigs on the team. This team definitely has a big advantage when it comes to size. Please Lakers, just please, play a little bit more inside game! Don't just rely on Kobe Bryant all the time and give it to your big men!

I have just stated a few good reasons why the Lakers aren't doing too well as of now, and also have mentioned a few things they can do to improve on them. I hope you agree with me, but if not, let me know what you think! Thank you for your time and see you on the next blog post!
