NCAA Potential Features List: How do you choose just 3?
Posted on November 29, 2009 at 12:25 PM.
I'm sure you've seen it by now, but Pasta Padre posted a survey EA has put out asking people to pick 3 out of 13 listed new features listed for NCAA 2011. If you've not seen the original story, check it out here: http://www.pastapadre.com/2009/11/28...aa-football-11

The features list is impressive. If you've not seen the survey yet, here it is:

Now, those all would make for an impressive improvement and one I feel wee the fans deserve.

Let me start with the no brainers. These are ones that shouldn't be on this list because they should be done without even thinking about it.
1. Authentic team entrances and traditions. And don't limit to 30. That shouldn't be an option. It should be a no brainer.
2. All new ESPN style TV presentation with broadcast graphics and special attention to rivalries. Again, why list this on the survey? It should be done. If its not EA deserves an epic fail. I'll take it a step farther, after NCAA Basketball gave us two broadcast teams, that should be the feature you're asking us if we want. The ESPN broadcast presentation better be there.
3. Coaching Carousel to me is a no brainer. It needs to be there. I also want the real coaches, but I'll be ok as long as I can edit them (including editing ages so the Joe Pa and Bobby Bowdens of the world can retire.) I include here the other option in the survey of having real coaches and coordinators. Should be done. I don't know why EA seperated the two in the survey but they go together and should finally be done.
4. Locomotion Gameplay: Really? That's one you are making an "option" as new feature? This is a big time no brainer. Better physics isn't something you should even be wasting our time asking if we want cause the answer will always be yes.
5. All new spread and no hudle spread gameplay. The spread is a big part of college football now. More and more teams are running it. If its in the game, its in the game, right? No brainer. Should just be done, EA.
6. This one isn't on the survey so I hope they have decided to make it a no brainer, but I leave nothing to chance with EA anymore. This feature is formation subs. Why in the hell EA took them out still makes no sense to me. It is needed in both football titles, but in NCAA where you might want to feature more than one back, it is stupid not to be there. Bring it back no, EA.
7. D1AA teams. I know another that isn't in the survey, but not leaving anything to chance I have to add them here. Team Builder is great and I do enjoy it, but give me these teams or a large number of them. Hopefully there aren't on the survey because they are already in, but I'd bet against it.

Ok, those are the no brainers. So I've removed them from the survey. Now I'm going to break down the game changers first. I guess, in a perfect world where those first six are in no matter what, these would be my first three.

1. AD mode with stadium builder/editor. I think an AD mode would bring something fresh to the game. The stadium editor is a must for this mode because if you are winning, you should be able to upgrade or even build a new stadium. i think this mode done right will be a new wrinkle on dynasty mode and could be a lot of fun.
2. Signature Coaching plays via audio is a cool sounding feature. Another one that could help change the game and give us something fresh.
3. Streamlined play calling. Again, seems like something that could really change things for the better. I combine it with last minute adjustments because the two really do go together.

Those would be my top four now that I've removed the features that are no brainers from the survey. Now I'm going to add a few I'd like to see not mentioned in the survey
1. Three broadcast teams. I know I mentioned it up top, but I'd like to see three teams, the A team for the top games, the b team for the other games, and a radio team for games not on tv. It would add a little more realism to all the games.
2. Added options to Team builder. I want to be able to put team names on the jersey and maybe more logos. Give me more to do. You know, stuff like choose a fight song and others. And give us 120 slots upfront without having to buy the extra slots. That was cheapshot last year.
3. Conference creater. I want to be able to create a conference from scratch and play it in a season without replacing an existing conference. It would be perfect for teambuilder teams.
4. More stadium sounds. If I want to do something for every team in the game, then let me. Stop placing limits on it.

All in all, everything on the survey should be in the game next year along with some of the things I've thought up. Hopefully EA will get the bulk of them in but are just trying to figure out which are most important. I just get disappointed when I see a game changer like AD mode being lumped in with things that should already be in for next year like broadcast and coaches. Those aren't things EA should be considering, they should just be doing.

Anyway, I want to know what you guys think. Do you agree that those first seven I listed should just be done and not listed in a survey or do you like the fact EA is at least asking this year?

The locomotion thing is the biggest no-brainer on the list. My top three (without including the obvious locomotion) would be: 1. ESPN presentation, 2. Coaching Carousel 3. AD mode.

Three broadcast teams could be very hard to get in though and actually make good. It would probably require the Xbox version of the game to be 2 discs at least. So I'm not so sure about that idea.

I'm all for your other three things not on the no brainer list though. I want to be able to pick my own rivals for my teambuilder team and a fight song. I also want to be able to make stadium sounds for just my teambuilder team instead of having to pick all.

It would be great to have everything but to have it be good they are probably just going to focus on a few.

Guys, exclude the no brainers or say they are no brainers, then give a list of others, even if EA didn't include them.

And three broadcast teams would be hard, but we've seen two done now. And the third would just be a one man radio team. It wouldn't be important, but would be cool

I deleted the spammer. Sorry it took me so long to remove it.
