Forgetting to Expand on Greatness of Stadium Creator in MLB The Show
Posted on March 20, 2024 at 02:04 PM.
When MLB The Show introduced Stadium Creator into the game in 21, it was revolutionary. We had a tone of options and creative juices started flowing.

That first year was not perfect. How could it be in the first year of a feature? We understood and knew somethings would be improved overtime.
Sure enough, in year 2 in 22 we could finally have night games in our created stadiums along with a few other tweaks. It seemed like SSDS was going to keep growing and improving the mode each and every year by adding something that missing before.

And make no mistake; adding night games was not something small to stadium creators. It truly helped us with the immersion into our created ballpark. We now had hope that the following year we would be able to create domes, definitely should be able to move bullpens. Maybe get ads we can place on walls or yellow lines at the top for ground rules or at least distance markers. Stadium team branding placement seems like an easy add that would happen by now too.

However, here are in MLB 24 addition and none of what I mentioned above has been added. In the last two years of the game the basic core has been the same but this asks from the community have remained unanswered.

While we have some amazing talent creating stadium that look great and are as close to real life replica as we can get with the limitations it is becoming increasingly frustrating to a lot of gamers who want to see mode grow and evolve.

There were two positives this year and one of them is major. The fact last year’s creations are already in the vault is huge. I was very pleased I did not have to recreate Laurel Brick Stadium again. And the minor league stadiums I wanted are already there.
The second is standing around fans. This one is a great addition to help fill in areas and some green spaces. I am happy to see it but it is another we should have seen last year or the year before. Still grateful we finally got them in.

However, I would have loved to be able to make tweaks to them such as moving the bullpens. We would love to have ads that we can place on walls and yellow lines. We would love to adjust our foul lines. Team branding placement should have happened already. Hell, we would love it if we could have more flag options. They have more in the game so we should have them as props. (All state flags should be an easy get. No excuse for only getting two flag options.)

The flag option is most annoying because we see they already have the other flags in the game but will not let us use them. Just put them in for all of us to grab. Add in the state flags you do not already have. This should not be hard to do. Instead, we get more dinos and busted up buildings.

And of course creating domed stadiums should be a thing by now. This was something we all expected to be included in year 2 and yet here we are in year 4 of the mode and we still cannot create a true dome.
Just give us some templets that have bullpens placed off the fields if you cannot allow us to move them ourselves. Something, anything is better than just leaving them always on the field.

By now, we should be looking at other way off wish list items, not basic requests like these. I am talking removal of the batter’s eye for classic stadiums (I doubt we will ever get.) I am talking placing a flagpole on the field, or maybe something like Tal’s hill in the outfield. We would love a folding chair section for little league and college stadium creations. In addition, a create an ad feature so could recreate some classic ads from the past or even make up our own fun companies to advertise for.

Stadium creator has so much potential. We have only scratched the surface of what we can do with this mode. I thought we would be further along in the innovations in year 4 but we are not there yet. Sure, some items might be patched in. However, things like Domes, bullpen placement, etc. will be at least another year before they are addressed and that is frustrating. And based on their recent track record I am not sure we can count on it addressed then either.

Nevertheless, here’s hoping they are paying attention and get back to giving us some legacy additions to what started so promising. And do not get me wrong, this is still the best stadium creator in all of sports gaming. However, it should be moving forward instead of just treading water.
