MEMPHIS - The season started off in a rocky way for the Memphis Grizzlies, but they bounced back to beat the Indiana Pacers in their season opener, 109-95. The Pacers dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Grizzlies by 8, due in large part to 9 offensive rebounds. The Grizzlies then took control halfway through the second quarter. They didn't have their first lead until the third quarter, but behind Marc Gasol's 16 points in the third quarter alone, the Grizzlies went from down 2 to up 8. The game was closer than the scoreboard shows, as the Grizzlies were able to get a few easy buckets at the end of the game.

Mike Conley had another great game, scoring 12 points while dishing out 21 assists. Gasol led the way in scoring and rebounds with 28 and 11 in each category. Newcomers Jae Crowder, Jeff Green, and Normal Powell each played big roles and showed that they'll be great fits with this team. Green adds a little bit of everything off the bench, Powell adds scoring off the bench, and Crowder adds versatility and defense to the starting lineup.
