BROOKLYN - The fans got a great game, but ultimately the Brooklyn Nets fell in their season and home opener. The Nets lost to the Chicago Bulls 85-80. Brooklyn held the lead for most of the game, but a strong 4th quarter by both Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler propelled Chicago to a 5 point win. After a Derrick Rose dunk gave the Bulls a 2 point lead with 20 seconds left, the Nets had a chance to tie or win the game when newly acquired point guard Dennis Schroder turned the ball over.

Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez were the top performers for the Nets, as they combined for 51 of the 80 points. Lopez only grabbed 3 rebounds, something of a concern to Brooklyn coaches. Although he didn't score much, Dennis Schroder orchestrated the offense well throughout the game, tallying 12 assists. Up next for the Nets is a game in San Antonio on October 30th to take on the Spurs.
