LOS ANGELES - The first battle for Los Angeles for the 2015-16 season was won by the Lakers 97-91. The Lakers had a comfortable 6 point lead at halftime and eventually got the lead up to as much as 13 before Blake Griffin happened. The Clippers' star scored 33 points on 16-22 shooting and grabbed 9 boards. He didn't get much help, though. Chris Paul had just 12 points on 3-8 shooting and Joe Johnson had 12 points on a mere 4-19 shooting.

Newcomer Jimmy Butler provided a huge lift, but it was Kobe Bryant once again who led the Lakers. The Black Mamba led the Lakers with 25 points. Jimmy Butler added 20 points of his own on a very good 8-11 shooting, including 3-3 from three point range. The most underrated player in this game was probably Julius Randle. The undersized center hauled in a massive 14 rebounds and added 10 points to his ledger. The bench scored just 14 points after losing both Nick Young and Khris Middleton to trades. Jeremy Lamb had just 4 points, but expect that number to increase as his role increases.
