[FARM REPORT] 4/6 Minor League Games

It is opening day for both the Mets AAA and AA baseball teams. The focus, however, is on each mound, as AAA Vegas features a pitcher trying to make a comeback, and AA Binghamton features a young pitcher being held in high regard in the organization.

AAA: Fresno: 5, Las Vegas: 1
Old friend Johan Santana took the mound for Las Vegas, as he hopes to make a major league comeback with the team which he gave both his and their first no-hitter. Santana suffered the loss in his first game, going 6 innings, giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 2. Scouts who watched him pitch say that there were definite signs of rust making this start, and to keep an eye on him as the season goes along. If he can shake this rust off, don't be surprised to see him back in Queens in late August, or as a September call up.

AA: Binghamton: 7, New Hampshire: 5
Taking the mound for Binghamton, young pitcher Augustin Brown, whom the Mets signed through international free agency last season, made his season debut. He labored through 6 tough innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs (3 earned) though he did strike out 11. There is certainly work to do on his end control wise, as he gave up 5 walks as well.
