Quakes sell Hernandez, add Good

The San Jose Earthquakes today confirmed reports that defenseman Jason Hernandez has been sold to the New York Red Bulls of the MLS Eastern Conference. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In a separate announcement, the Earthquakes revealed that they have acquired defenseman Curtis Good on loan from Newcastle United. General Manager Jon Doyle suggested in a statement that Good and incumbent bench player Tommy Muller would combine to fill the void left in the rotation by Hernandez. "We wanted to be able to spell our starters at the center back positions with some fresh energy and youth" claimed Doyle Monday. Good will return to Newcastle upon the completion of the 2015 MLS season.
