Earthquakes Make First Moves

The San Jose Earthquakes today announced that they have signed two of their own players, Homegrown Exception player Edson Hagglund and Tommy Muller, to new contracts Monday.

Additionally, the team announced that they have completed an agreement to loan out two players, GK August�n Bedell and DEF Bradley Smith.

Hagglund was designated as the Homegrown player during the winter but had yet to sign a deal with the team. The 6'4'' GK will be eligible to join the squad during the 2016 season.

Muller has appeared in five matches, with two starts, for the Earthquakes in 2015.

Bedell (loaned to Dundee FC), was San Jose's second round pick in 2015, has not appeared in any matches for the Earthquakes since being drafted in last year's SuperDraft.

Smith (loaned to N�mes Olympique) was the first round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft for the Earthquakes and has appeared in no matches since being drafted.
