The Army Black Knights search for a new Head Coach came to an end on Saturday as they selected New Mexico native and Army Veteran, Jake Swenk, to walk the sidelines on Saturdays. Swenk served with the 101st Airborne and played his college football at the University of New Mexico. For the last 6 seasons, he's been the Quarterbacks coach and Offensive Coordinator for his alma mater, New Mexico and prior to that he coached Farmington High School to 4 State Championships in 6 seasons.
Coach Swenk expressed his excitement to be a part of the Army tradition and provided a little bit of insight as to his philosophies during his introductory press conference. "Excited for this chance. Excited to meet the team and start the process and hit the field with these guys." Coach Swenk said he plans to implement a new offense that will take the primary focus off the run and put emphasis on a balanced attack. "I feel like we definitely have the talent to change the trajectory of our offense, kind of bring it into the 21st century."
The new offensive philosophy will put Senior QB, Bryson Dailey, who displayed flashes of passing talent last season, in the spotlight. He will have some weapons in Junior WR, Noah Smart
