All the bashing of Madden needs to stop! Im sick of the people complaining about the game's lack of progression over the last 20 years. News flash..... just played super mario bros wii and its still eerily similiar to Nintendo's 1985 offering. The new Grand theft still uses a hybrid engine that was used on the ps2 years back. The list goes on (modern warfare, god of war, NBA 2k, tiger woods, Street fighter, Halo, Tekken, Virtua fighter) all use some form of the core game engine that made them popular from the start.
I've been playing street fighter for years and I've never heard anyone complain about the way a person double bounce upon hitting the ground. But yet you people critique every aspect of the gameplay. Was I disgusted by the 00 jersey's on the sideline? Yes, but it still doesn't take away from an extremely solid, football offering. I've said this time and time again. The people who swear by 2k football are casual football fans, who prefer high scoring football, rather than strategic-defensive minded football.
In closing, stop whining about every little detail. If you explore every game, on every level, they all are flawed. I'm for one is happy that EA takes the time to do ambitious overhauls in an extremely short development window. Its better than paying 15.00 for a yearly roster update.

Young man, your statement contradicts. Will you run the same play over and over? Or will Madden's cpu assistance stop the play. You couldn't see me in Madden with a Super scope (SNES peripherral). Get your game up, get your grammar up, and most importantly get your hating down. Here's the facts.... If 2k was so great, it would've sold more than Madden 2005. The number's don't lie. The game came out earlier than Madden, sold for 19.99, and it still didn't sell. The NFL saw the numbers, and bought in to EA's exclusivity pitch. I have NFL 2k5, and the bottom line......it may look pretty, but it's game play engine is extremely loose. I appreciate bells and whistles more than the next guy, but above all, I want my sports game to feel like authentic football, rather than looking like it. But that's me! Some gamers prefer their game to play like its represented on tv (2k) rather than how it would feel to be on the field (madden). EA has a tough job, their actually stepping outside the box and attempting to blend the two. And enough with the next gen stuff, we're not dealing with 2d sprites anymore. The more complex the system..... the harder to program. Like I said before, I invite you to run a money play and cheese. I actually encourage it. My competitor being one dimensional simplifies my gameplan, making it easier for me to get a win. My apologies if you don't understand that Madden's a coaching game, your euphoria engine based- casual football fan, NFl blitz style game is here to appease you. Until then take up chess and learn the x's and o's. You gotta have common sense to appreciate what EA sports has done with their football franchise.

first of all my grammar is on par i just use slang cuz its easy to text boy! youre sorry and yo madden boy ! so go play it. 2nd of all nfl 2k5 sold more copies than madden in o4 thats why madden went and bout the license boy! they cant handle competition. allow others to make football games so we can see how you fair with competitors but no ea didnt do that because they knew madden was inferior. no you do the x's & o's nano glitch b!tch.

You have to be kidding me. Madden is an unfinished product, in which glitches are blatantly evident. Balls passing through players, suction blocking and tackling, poor defensive AI, WR's and CB's miraculously speeding up to get to balls that were way out of range. I believe that you have it the wrong way round - Madden looks the part, but 2K's offerings feel the part.
2K give you chess football, Madden is made for arcade style cheese. They are trying to make a SIM but it fails on so many levels. My scores on Madden are through the roof at times on all madden, so your scoring arguement is very weak. I start a game on APF and I go 14 points down in the first quarter. Thats when the CPU starts to slow the game down a little, and grind away with the run to eat the clock, and so it should. If I've screwed up and give them a lead like that I want and expect to have to work to get the lead back, not just run a few plays knowing I'll get to the end zone. If you're 14 down in the 4th, you will get no time to play with. On Madden, they keep throwing like they are 7 behind. Giving you plenty of chances to get the ball back and win the game. That is not chess football.
If the game was mainly glitch free (nothing will ever be) then I wouldn't mind - just a few improvements e.g. proper sideline catches, bit better presentation and sorting the ball through receiver problem (just to name a few) would make this game enjoyable. However, there are too many glitches that affect the gameplay for people to let it slide
People are entitled to vent their displeasure when a product is up to scratch - When EA sorts most of the problems then people will not bash it as much

@Gmandawiz- You're a pretty angry kid. I knew a guy, just like you, who didn't receive a lot of hugs as a kid and the girls called him ugly, every time he would smile. He went on to torture little animals and pick the skin away from his body. Fortunately for you, you've chosen to bash innocent football games vs the aforementioned. The cocker spaniels and melatonin are rejoicing!
@Everybody else- My PS3 is backward's compatible, so here's what I will do. I'm going to play NFL 2k5 exclusively for one month, a minimum of an hour a day, and get back with you. Surely, this many gamers can't be wrong about a product. Btw- I'm not biased towards EA. I have both 2k10 basketball and live10. Take a stab in the dark and guess which one is played for single player and bells and whistles, and which one is played for heads up 2 player games. My point exactly!

Madden 10 is an unfinished product and nobody is Madden bashing. We all want Madden to win....Madden has to deliver a strong product. Your blog has no real point. Go back to the lab and put together some strong points on WHy Madden football is great and we are all haters who are wrong......Don't worry I'll be waiting.

I have said forever that I am a Sports Video Game fan I do not care who the video game maker is(if the Gestapo made a good video game I'd buy!---you know what I mean) I always thought NFL 2K5 was overrated, good football game yes but it still failed on alot of areas. Using turbo controllers are the equivalent of EA's buying upgrades for your games in the marketplace but no-one mentions that. You could shift defensive lineman around and the offensive lineman would completly ignore their assignments fade patterns that were unstoppable there are plenty of problems....But oh yeah that Pre half and postgame show was awesome, the first 5-10 tims I watched it then I basically skipped it.
While I think Madden is far from perfect I am happy as I realize short of getting a game every other year. The year to year advancements ARE enough for me. Do I wish they could sometimes deliver more unequivocally yes. Do I think that Madden would be better off without the NFL Exclusivity? unequivocally NO. Having the NFL's unabashed support is a huge plus and I think that they are doing a good job with it over the last year or 2 there have been some good steps in the right direction.
The problem I see is 2K can't/won't/has no desire to spend on the level of EA and thus there game would not have reached the heights of Madden. I look at the MLB and NHL series they are 2 games that were allowed to get so terrible that they have become complete jokes MLB 2K9 was outsold on all consoles by MLB the Show 09 on 1 console.
NHL2K from 2k2 to about 2K7 was the king of the roost they were untouchable but they got complacent and allowed inferior product to be released year after year while EA's NHL series has had genre changing elements added almost every year since 07 because they realized they had to be better. It had little to do with being better than 2k because if it was they would have copied everything 2K did prior to 2K7 and had very similar games but they went the original route and changed the way hockey is played in Video games.
So in closing I have no problem with EA have NFL exclusivity because I feel that they are getting the most out of it, and look at 2K sadly I think the time has come for them to either be sold to another company and merged with a bigger company(like EA sadly) or someone else who is willing to spend the money and hire the right people who want to make huge strides to their sports video games because as it stands now only NBA 2k(which I admittedly am not a basketball fan) is worth playing now and I have even read that NBA Live is on its heels and 2K is slipping there. It is unfortunate because the NHL series was what broght me to online leagues(which I love more than anything else in videogaming.) I go back to dreamcast with 2K and Genesis with the World Series baseball games. I just want to see Madden/EA keep going in the right direction and this year was a huge step in the right direction after a couple subpar efforts im playing more videogame football than I ever have.

I have been gaming for over 30 years and I agree with the original poster, to a point. I don't care what others think of Madden or any other game. If I enjoy a game and what it offers, that is all that matters.
Too many people get consumed with others opinions. The only opinion that matters is that of the individual.
I have enjoyed Madden 10 as well as NCAA 10 because I find the games enjoyable. I could care less if balls morph through players or there are flaws. These are games and will never emulate the real thing 100%.

I agree totally. The reason we game is for fun and fun only. Ultimately, if I wanted the real thing, I would play semi-pro football. EA is doing a fantastic job with Madden (a complex gaming engine that puts 22 3-dimensional players on the field at once)! I feel like a lot of Maddenites have female tendencies. They fail to see the big picture. If you can't see the long term picture with this product..... you lack testosterone. I'm for one is looking at Madden Armageddon (2012) as the big year for Madden football. In the mean time, I'm confident Madden 2011 will be up to par.
