End of the 2010 Regular Season - AFC Recap & Wildcard Preview
Posted on October 7, 2010 at 09:37 PM.
New England Patriots Having gone undefeated in a repeat performance of 2007, it's Super Bowl or bust for New England.
Miami DolphinsThe Fins fall just short of .500, at 7-8 and one tie, and will look to improve next season.
New York JetsDespite some considering them the favorites early on in the AFC East, losing star QB Mark Sanchez to an injury midway through the season, backup QB Kellen Clemens could not play at the same level, and the Jets finish at 6-8-1 and miss the postseason.
Buffalo BillsThe Bills tie the Detroit Lions for the worst regular season finish, at 3 and 13. Ranking low on offense and defense, the Bills will need more help on both sides of the ball next season.
AFC North
Cincinnati BengalsThe Bengals finish with an impressive 11 and 5 record, with being 7 and 1 at home. The Bengals will host division opponent Baltimore at home in the Wildcard round. QB Carson Palmer finishes in the top 10 in the NFL in passing yards.
Baltimore RavensThe Ravens finish with a respectable 10-6 record, looking to triumph over Cincy whom they split the season matchups with, 1-1. QB Joe Flacco finishes in the top 5 in the NFL in passing yards.
Cleveland Browns &
Pittsburgh SteelersBoth the Browns and Pittsburgh end the season just shy of .500 at 7-9, highlighting the toughness of the AFC North.
AFC South
Indianapolis ColtsRanking third in the highest-scoring offense in the NFL and having gotten within a point of ruining New England's perfect season, Peyton Manning & Co. are right on schedule with a 14-2 record.
Tennessee TitansThe Titans manage to crack .500 with a 9-7 record, but miss the playoffs.
Jacksonville Jaguars &
Houston TexansHighlighting the toughness of another AFC division, both the Jags and Texans finish the season right below .500 at 7 and 9. MJD finishes 3rd in the league in rushing, but it proves to be not enough to carry the Jags.
AFC West
Denver Broncos Coach McDaniels doesn't disappoint Broncos fans, winning (just barely) the AFC West with an 11-5 record, compared to the Super Chargers' 10-6 finish.
San Diego Chargers"San Diago" has a top-3 QB in Phillip Rivers, and a top-3 receiver in VJax. Their wildcard match-up against none other than division rival Denver will undoubtedly collect huge ratings.
Oakland Raiders &
Kansas City ChiefsFor Oak-town and KC, it's "continue to rebuild," as they finish 7-9 and 5-11, respectively.
