I know that this is not a new problem but, I needed to vent. Last night I went to fire up my 360 and boom 3 red lights!!! I am down and out right now. My warranty is expired and will cost $100 plus shipping to repair and I heard it takes weeks to get the system back. I can buy a used system for $140-190 without a HD, but I don't have that kind of $$ sitting around right now. My wife and I are expecting our 3rd child and I think this means I'm out of luck for a while.

Heres a suggest for you .Do the towel trick ,where you wrap the unit in a towel and wait around 25 minutes.This should restore unit for the time being.I added a fan for 19.95 after towel trick and got mine to last for 4 months.I will tell you that Im an electronic tech and these things are made cruddy.Even if you open and scrape off heat compound and add new the problem comes back.There are all sorts of fixes on the net,my experience is that 3 rings will come back.If you start with crap you end with crap...Tom

MS should be ashamed of themselves for rushing out the product knowing it had major heat issues. It was successful short term though. They beat Sony to the punch and have won the market share in North America. The real question is whether they pissed off so many RROD customers that they won't buy the next console MS makes.
