Some of my favorite gaming memories came with defeat!!

I was talking to some guys at work about some "classic gaming moments" as I started to tell some of mine I realized a good deal of them came on games that I actually lost. I think I appriciate a hard fought defeat than a blowout victory sometimes. Anyways here are a few moments that I remember.

Madden 96: I was winning the SuperBowl with my Cleveland Browns 35-30 with :30 seconds or so left when instead of running out the clock I threw a screen pass which was intercepted and returned for a touchdown!!! I lose the freaking Super Bowl 35-37 on a stupid mistake I made.

NCAA football 03: I make the National Championship with my Toledo Rockets who were 13-0 on the season. I am playing the Tennessee Volunteers and am down by 2 with 1:00 or so left and get the ball. I drive down to their 32 yard line and call a timeout with :02 left on the clock a kick a 50 yard field goal attempt that goes wide right!!! final score Rockets 10 Volunteers 12!!!

NCAA football 03: I make the Championship again with the Rockets vs. Miami. I am down by 4 points with 1:00 or so left in the game drive down to their 5 yard line. Fourth and goal with :12 seconds left do or die time my quarterback goes back and throws an interception!!!! Not again!!!! two seasons in a row as a runner up. Final score Rockets 23 Miami 27.

NBA 2k1: NBA Finals game 5. New Jersey lead by Jason Kidd and myself have a 3-1 series lead against the Lakers and are trying to put the series away. Late in the fourth quarter Kidd hits a 3 to take the lead 98-96 with :08 left on the clock. Kobe gets the ball at the top of the arch and shoots and the clock hits :00 final score Nets 98 Lakers 99 closing the series 3-2. I win the next game by 15 or so winning the series.

Gamebreaker (1996?): I remember doing a season on this game back in highschool. I picked the worst team I could find and I picked the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Boy did they or I suck!! We went an impressive 0-11 I remember starting off 0-5 and wanting to quit the season, then I decided to tough it out and get some wins. Last game of the season it's pouring rain I'm down by 4. :20 left on the clock pass to my WR who FUMBLES on their 15 yard line Western Michigan recovers and my team goes winless on the season final score EMU 12 WMU 16.

Madden 00: My last story is with my beloved Cleveland Browns. They were an expansion team at the time and the were pretty bad on the game. We jump out of the gate 0-5 on the season and I'm thinking "boy playoffs are out of the question let alone a winning season." and thats when I started getting it and wins started coming. I won 10 of the last 11 games finishing the season 10-6!! Wild Card winners. It made the entire season exciting every game was pretty much a must win and I was playing close game almost every time. I lost in the 1st round to Buffalo but, I was just glad to be there in the playoffs. It's my favorite season ever on Madden.

These are some great memories I love a great game that is hard fought the whole time. It kinda sucks putting all that effort into a season and see it end on a heartbreaker like that but, it makes me want to go back and try again. It gets old winning 6 strait championships. (side note I do a Toledo Rockets NCAA legacy every season and have not made a national championship ever since. I have made it my personal goal to win a championship with my beloved Rockets.)
