Alaska State has officially stepped into the national stage with a huge win on the recruiting trail. They raked in the #3 overall class, amd here are some of the big names:
B.J. Stewart, Athlete - Stewart visited the campus only one time before giving his nod to the SnowCats. Stewart brings a huge upside to the offense, most likely as the eventual successor to Shaun Peterson at RB.
Dustin Carroll, Athlete - Dustin ironically enough has family in Anchorage, therefore the choice wasn't too hard for this 5-star recruit from Illinois. Carroll projects as a wide receiver.
Malcom Leak, DE - Leak is a solid speed rusher who can step in and gain experience from Senior Justin Johnson. Coaches are hoping to get Leak's weight up to about 260lbs in order to help out in run support.
Jimmy McCarty, Guard - McCarty looks like a potential freshman starter right out of the gate. He is a little lean at 280lbs, but coaches rave about his agility and quick feet. Last years guard tandem gave up too many sacks.
David Kennedy, Tackle - Kennedy already has the size at 6-5, 315lbs to step in at either tackle spot right away. Look for him to land the RT slot in spring ball.
Other notables: Brian Pratt, SS Stephen Schmidt, DT James McLaurin, MLB all look to be top players in their positions in the future.
