Oil/Gold/Crab Bring Families and Athletes to Alaska State

An influx of new residents spurred on by the ever-present oil industry, recently popularized fishing industry, and yes..GOLD. No folks, its not just on TV that gold is king, it's true in Alaska today more than ever. And people have taken notice. Just look at the roster at newly founded Alaska State University football team...26 student athletes alone from Ohio, another 11 in Pennsylvania, and 8 from all the way down in sunny Florida! All brought on by promises of fame and fortune. Families have packed up their stuff, and left family and friends behind, to start anew in Anchorage, Alaska.
Although those industries are the most high profile, military families can also be found in Anchorage. The U. S. Air Force base sees its share of enrolled athletes in the school.
