UCLA Outlasts Alaska State 41-38

UCLA surged to a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter of action, and led 28-14 at the half, but a resilient SnowCats team fought back in the second half only to come up short 41-38 in overtime as tailback Chris Kelly ran it in from 10 yards out to secure the victory for the Bruins in the 2016 Las Vegas Maaco Bowl. UCLA QB Chris Turner stepped up huge in his first big game in relief, throwing for 273 yards and 3TD, and running for 101 yards and another score. The ASU defense showed up in the second half, only to have the ASU offense sputter when they needed the big plays. Neither defense could make a stop this game giving up almost 1000 yards of offense between the two of them, but the Bruin defense came up big when it mattered most in overtime, holding the ASU offense to 3 points setting up the win. ASU starter Markell Cooley had a fantastic final game in an ASU uniform, throwing for 271 yards and 3 TD.
