The northernmost city in the United States with more than 100,000 residents has been named the next school to join the FBS. Alaska State University, a school boasting barely 9,000 students has been accepted into the Midwest Conference - West division of football competition, a position left vacant by San Jose State. Playing in a stadium barely bigger than most high school fields, the Snow Cats have arrived. Finishing touches have been put on team uniforms, the field, and the coaching staff. Relatively unknown Shannon Tietsworth, a native of Pennylvania, brings his offense and coaching staff to often cold and frigid Anchorage.
Known more for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, Anchorage will now boast its on college football team. Look out doggies, here come the Snow Cats!!
