NBA 2k career change
Posted on July 7, 2014 at 10:36 AM.
Career modes need some work. They need to add new features and training mechanics. They should teach someone how to play the game but also keep the veterans of the series happy with tougher challenges. NBA 2k has a good career mode but it can be so much better.
One thing I dislike about career modes is the fact that we can’t adjust our attributes before we start playing. These games just randomly give out attributes. It’s supposed to be a creation process; therefore we should pick the stats we want to start with along with accessories and tattoos. We need new tattoos in this game. We are rookies but how come the other rookies are rated a lot higher than us? Our created character should have the chance to be rated just as high as the number 1 pick in the draft. If I want to be a pass first point guard in NBA 2k my other stats shouldn’t suffer if I don’t want them too.
Again I know were rookies and not that great yet but we are going to the league, we should be able to adjust our attributes or at least do some drills to earn points towards our attributes. In 2k you create a guy and then play a rookie showcase, you have to have some type of talent to play in a rookie showcase. You should go through a combine before you go to the showcase. You select a shooting form, some dribble moves, post moves, but you have no time to try it out before the game starts. You don’t get to try any of your moves out before the showcase.
The combine should consist of various drills and mini games to help us learn the game but more importantly gain experience points to use to boost our overall. Mini games for a point guard should differ from a center or forward. I don’t have a specific number in mind but shooting, dribbling, defensive, fastbreak and even a vertical jumping drill should be included. The combine drills should be completely different from the training drills you can perform during the season. 2k has had the same boring in season drills for a long time. They need to add brand new training games that you can do during the season to improve your player for a game or gain experience points.
They should also add in new interview scenarios. Rookies don’t always do a press conference to talk to the media. Can we get some locker room media? Maybe just talk in the hallway of the arena, or pre-game interviews. Even on next gen the reporters were all the same people and we still did that weird lean when you started talking. You don’t need your teammates up there when you talk also. It doesn’t happen like that in real life.
We should get more experience during the games and in training. Becoming a better player should take some time but we should be rewarded for doing well. Training should be fun and rewarding so we can have even more fun during the actually game.
