For as long as I can remember whenever I got a sports game I created myself, started a season, drafted myself and tried to play as many seasons as I could. This process was even better when I played basketball games with my brother and then eventually with my college roommates. We would create players but couldn�t have an overall over 79. We picked a random team, drafted our players and used player lock throughout the season.
Most sports games these days offer a career mode for an individual player. However I don�t think any of them stand out as great. I don�t play all sports games so I can�t speak for the Fifa, MLB The Show or the NHL series. For the games that I play the career modes have fun moments but don�t offer creative training games to really bring out the fun of creating your own player.
I recently picked up UFC and it�s a fun game but the career mode is lacking. The character creation is barebones; you just pick a generated face instead of adjusting the look of your fighter. Once you finally make it to the UFC you are given an opponent, then you train and then you fight. You rinse and repeat this throughout. There are cool elements to the career that I will touch on later.
The NBA 2k series has a decent career mode called MyPlayer. On the ps4/xb1 there is a story mode that you participate in. This mode is lacking also, there aren�t enough character faces to choose from and the story dialogue is comical at best. One thing I really dislike from this career mode is the fact that you can�t put accessories or tattoos on your created player. You have to purchase them with VC.
The Madden Franchise has connected careers and you can choose to play as a coach, owner or player. When you create a player you pick a position and select a player type (mobile QB, strong-arm QB, etc.), then you select your backstory (1st round, undrafted) which gives you your rating. After this you create a player adding limited accessories and you pick a team. To me this is the worst offering for career mode.
We need changes to all of these career modes. They are not much fun and people max out their players in the 1st season so playing multiple seasons is not always fun. We need more depth and things to do when we are not playing the game.

Can you max out your player in fifa or NBA live in 1 season?

you should max out in at least the 4th season. I would love to play a career mode for 4 seasons. I never play that long

I couldn't get into GM mode because of the VC. I was using all my VC in Myplayer. I wish GM mode didn't use VC at all. It would be a lot better. In GM mode I like to draft a random team and work from there. I get bored if I pick a regular team.
