What a brilliant start,6 points clear of 2nd place Birmingham City and 7 points clear of Reading, the 2 Premier League drop-outs that the pundits predicted to be striaght back through the BarclayCard revolving door.
Now I'm not getting my hopes up too high yet,any Wolves supporter will now how close we've come before,in fact our last foray into the land of the Premiership was for only one season and we we're lucky to get there.
A 1-0 win at Molineux Stadium over Man u was a definate hi-lite,although there weren't too many others in our one season of glory!!!
The gaffer has spent his money very wisely indeed,4 regular starters in the England under 21 team, one striker who finally made his debut for Scotland at 29[after bangin' in 9 goals in 6 games-only to miss a wide open goal that would of snatched a draw in Scotland's last home game]3 starters in the Welsh squad,2 starters for the Irish and one for Trinidad!!
That's all of the starting 11 all playing for their countries in the next few weeks!!!!
But a good start means nothing if you don't have a great finish-about 10 years ago Wolves were flying high in the Championship,we were 13 points clear halfway through the season, most of the kudos going to a young striker named Robbie Keane-yep that Robbie Keane!!!
Until some genius decided to succumb to the temptation of 6-7 million pounds being offered for the young striker-forgetting that the only reason we were in the top spot was because of his 20+ goals in as many games-so they took the money and the goals dried up,so did the points and with that any chance of promotion!!!
So while there are still 30 games left to go,it seems to be ticking along quite nicely!!!!
Big kudos to Kurt Warner!!!I support the Cards,I'm a sucker for punishment i know, but they have the same colours as my boardriders club and i always roote for the underdog. What a story,it'll definately one day be a movie of the week, but the ups and downs and ups he's been through are quite amazing,I would imagine this time last year he would of been thinking it's time to hang up the boots, now we're talking MVP again,3 time MVP as well, not to many of them!!!
