Being an African American male, I grew up in an environment where baseball wasn't too popular. Football was always king and basketball was a close second.

So fast-forward to the future. Now that I basically play every sport in video games; I was stuck in that mindset when it comes to gaming too. There are some other sports that have some really cool games, I know (Fifa, Nascar). But TO ME..... it was still football and basketball first and second.

Basketball eventually ... Read More

I don't know what ever happened to the idea. But I still remember it like yesterday. This was several years ago, about a year before Playstation 2 came out. Not 3... 2!!!!

I read in several magazines and even saw screenshots of how they were going to take Madden and other sports games to a whole new level...off the field. I saw some shots of the Fox studio set and the whole works. The article was saying how we were going to see something very similar to what we see on Sundays at halftime ... Read More

We all know each of the game companies can improve the commentary to reduce repeated phrases and what not. But for a moment let's just put that aside.

Of any of the sports games out right now...Who do you guys think is the best overall? Meaning, the least robotic, gets excited at the right time, sounds like its really him talking, doesn't repeat AS MUCH, good phrases, teaches, all the above.

Let's separate play-by-play, color commentators, and then announce team.

I rarely hear people talk about it. Or even see people on the Madeen forums complianing. Maybe its because I'm not gonna flip through ALLLLLL those pages on the wish list, even though some seem to think one should.

The post like this : "(it) has already been posted if you look through the threads."

Well here's a quick note off subject: I've got better things to do than flip through all those pages to see if I'm the first one to post something. Its won't hurt to look over ... Read More

I've read that EA has add-ons on PSN and XBox Live for different commentators for FIFA 09. They are mostly available in other languages. but there is one other set of commentators in English.

Whats cool is that all these other sets of commentators are different guys. And there are a lot of 'em.

Now this is wishful thinking. But man it would be ULTRA cool if Madden or NCAA offered options or add-ons for different sets of commentators. If you wanted your game to have a ... Read More

I hear people say all that time that boxing isn't what is used to be. That most of the fighters are foreign so who cares. Well, that has alot to do with the fact that kids here in the States don't grow up wanting to be the next Ali anymore. Why? Because they don't see any of these fighters to even idolize them.

Most every fight is on pay per view. And alot of people including myself choose not to pay 50 bucks a pop to watch what'll probably be garbage. As a result, huge fight goes ... Read More

I know there are gamers that decide to turn off the commentary. So this blog isn't for you. But for those of us who are big on presentation, who's calling our sports games matter. Yes, the gaming companies could do better with the content. But thats not my topic.

There's something about just "hearing" certain voices in certain sports that increases the realism of the game.

I understand contracts and other reasons won't allow some guys to be used. But just for the sake ... Read More

When 2K Sports announced that they were discontinuing their College Hoops series, I'm one of the many who were HIGHLY disappointed. Now, I know it wasn't a perfect game, but I liked a lot of things about it. To name a few things: the gameplay (same engine as NBA 2K), the College Hoops weekly Show, and last but not least...multi-player dynasty.

College Hoops (as well as NBA 2K) may only allow you to control up to a certain number of teams, but you could still play any game you want ... Read More

I miss boxing. No, I don't mean since the last version of Fight Night. I mean real life boxing. Now, I know boxing still exist but come on. There are only a few fighters whose names we even recognize. And when they fight most of us don't see it because we don't wanna shell out 50 bucks for 3 boring undercard fights and a main event that doesn't live up to the hype.

And then they wonder why the popularity of the sport has fallen off. Back in the day we used to see Ali and Foreman, ... Read More

I have to give EA some credit for a good thing they did this season. In this year's NCAA Football 09, unlike most other sports games, at least the "random" simulation scores are realistic.

For example, in this past weekend's games, one of the games on schedule was Florida and Vandy. Now I know Vandy is a little better than in years past. However, they are NOT in Florida's league yet. If I simulate that game 10 times Florida would win at least nine of 'em. Trust me I tried it. This ... Read More

Ok we all have opinions I know. I've read all the comments about bugs, glitches and online problems (which I don't care about). But when I personally judge a sporst game it comes down to first things first:

Does this game give me the feeling that I'm controlling a TV broadcast? Graphics, sound, and presentation are the foundation as far as I'm concerned.

While I must say the two demos for NBA Live 09 and NCAA Basketball 09 are better than the previous two versions of ... Read More
