Simulation scores a little too random???? Stuck
Posted on November 11, 2008 at 09:46 PM.
I have to give EA some credit for a good thing they did this season. In this year's NCAA Football 09, unlike most other sports games, at least the "random" simulation scores are realistic.

For example, in this past weekend's games, one of the games on schedule was Florida and Vandy. Now I know Vandy is a little better than in years past. However, they are NOT in Florida's league yet. If I simulate that game 10 times Florida would win at least nine of 'em. Trust me I tried it. This helps my college football season stay somewhat realistic aside from any surprises.

Now.... If only the other sports games can start to have this factored into the simulation.

Next example... I usually play my sports games in-season. So for me right now its NFL, NBA, NHL and College Football time. My hockey season is an absolute mess. Can someone please explain to me why the Detroit Red Wings are in LAST place at this point in my season? And no, its not the team I control. The Wings came in as defending champions and are favored to win it again.

They aren't the only team out of place either. How in the heck can the Florida Panthers be in first place with only 3 losses? I get the same thing in other sports including my NBA. How can I simulate Sacramento at Boston 5 times and Sacramento win 4 of 'em?

I wish they would get this right y'all. What's your experience?

I've often wondered why companies like EA sports doesn't purchase the engines some of these text sims use to get their results in simmed games. Seems like it wouldn't be too expensive and the results would be SO much better!

But then again, because it's happening in your videogame world, doesn't mean it won't happen in real life.

Who would have guessed the Colts would barely be .500 this year? Who would have guessed the Hawks would be 6-0 so far? Auburn was ranked 10th to start the NCAA year, they are 5-5, Arizona State was 13th, they are 3-6.

These things happen in real life too, so just because something else goofy is happening in videogame world, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Just my 2 cents.

The Colts are slowing down dawg. The Hawks? Did you forget they took the champs to 7 games last year? Thats a good team.

Now the others, you're right there are a FEW surprises. But I did address that.

So you would have saw Cliff Lee going 21-2? Ryan Braun becoming a superstar? Boise State crashing the BCS? The Giants winning last year's Super Bowl?

Stuff happens. If you want everything to mimic real life, then you would have to play everything and control everything yourself, at that point, it's easier just to watch Sportscenter and imagine how your games would have come out.

Now check this out playa... I'm playing my NBA season tonight and thought the Hawks needed little help to get outta last place.

No check....I had to re-load and re-simulate the Atlant-New Jesrey game 11 times before Atlanta FINALLY won that game. ELEVEN times!!!!! Thats insane. Now I know you aren't gonna say New Jersey is that freakin' good?????

Like I said, it needs work.
