March 25, 2002 RAW is War "Live" Review (On WWE Network)

They just had an advertisement for the main event of the evening - Triple H vs Chris Jericho vs Stephanie McMahon for the WWF Undisputed Championship (Triple H still carrying the two belts).

-First match on the show: Tazz vs Mr. Perfect. ****ing hell!

-Tazz is so sloppy in the ring and Mr. Perfect is a shell of himself. But, Tazz wins within about 3 minutes. He's over as hell, I'll say that.

-I'm anxious to see the draft picks because I really do not remember who was picked when.
-Ah, yes, it's The Rock. Man, I miss this Rock. 1999-2002 is exactly why The Rock has the cult like following he still has to this day! He owns this segment on the mic. And I really miss the Mr. McMahon character being featured so prominently.

-So many crowd signs!

-Rock references Beaver Stadium (since they're at Penn State), and Lawler damn near nuts himself at the thought of their being a Beaver Stadium....

-Rock starting an entire crowd participation chant at Vince of "you are...an *******".

-Undertaker picked by Flair. Isn't this soon after he and Flair faced off at 'Mania X8? Also, his "stats" come up in a graphic on the screen, and he's 10-0 at Wrestlemania.

-Now we get the second match of the night. Edge (with my favorite theme of his, "Never Gonna Stop") & DDP vs Christian & Booker T. Booker T & DDP got the biggest pops of the four men who made their entrances.
-I love Christian's old theme (Christian! Christian! At last..you are on your oooowwwnn!) His entrance was bad ***, as well.

-I didn't realize Edge had been using the spear as his finisher for so long.

-I love the Kurt Angle kiss *** gimmick, when he was sucking up to Vince all the time. (McMahon chooses Angle)

-I think Jerry Lawler is wearing the carpet from Aladdin.

-Ric Flair with the N.W.O. as his next pick. Nash, Hall, & X-Pac. This must have been just soon before Big Show, Booker T, and Shawn Michaels made appearances with them.

-Vince McMahon chooses Chris Benoit...surreal moment to see that.

-N.W.O trying to strong arm Flair into voiding his pick. Arn Anderson comes in to join Flair. Having WCW flashbacks here...
-Flair picks Kane.

-We have an ad..."Tobacco is Whacko (if you're a teen)". So, only if you're a teen? Fair enough. Now we see a Mint Skittles ad. Did anyone ever try those?

-Trish Stratus vs Ivory. Trish is utterly talentless, at this point. But, she wins with Stratusfaction. That match was as bad as an Alicia Fox vs Cameron match.

-Vince's 4th pick is interrupted by another "you are...an *******" chant. Vince manages to scream out that he picks Hogan. They've dubbed in some horribly ****ty music over Hogan's "Voodoo Chile" theme.

-An ad for the Divas swimsuit issue from 2002. Stacy Keibler! Lita! Trish! Torrie Wilson! Jesus!!!

-Flair comes out to choose Rob Van Dam. Van Dam gets as big of a pop as any other draft pick (Rock & Undertaker included).
-Kurt Angle's *** kissing leads to what will likely be the match of the night. Rob Van Dam vs Kurt Angle

-Well, I'll be damned...before I can even finish typing about the Angle/RVD match, Hogan & Rock announce that they will be taking on Nash, Hall, & X-Pac. Is this the match where Nash tore his quad like 2 minutes in?

-Billy & Chuck get chosen next. What in the blue hell?

-Now we get the Boot of the week, brought to you by Lugz. Nash powerbombs Rock through a table, X-Pac clatters Hogan with a chair. Who was the guy that used to do the commercials for Lugz? I remember him being in the Def Jam video games.

-Hogan's dubbed in entrance theme is garbage. **** it.
-Hogan just chunked X-Pac out of the ring. Now we get a tag to Hall. Hogan throws him across the ring as well. So, here's the tag to Nash. Do we get a finger poke of doom?! We're less than 2 minutes in and Hogan is hulking up. What the hell is this?!

-Hall still had the best punches in the business. Now we get Rock & Nash. Rock cleans house. Hogan Leg Drop. NWO destroys Hogan & Rock. Kane is out now. Reminds me of the segment with Rock, Kane, & Hogan. Hilarious stuff. Diesel squares off with Fake Diesel. NWO wins via DQ. Faces getting DQ'd? what is this sorcery?!

-Flair picks Booker T. Vince McMahon counters with Edge. Flair comes back with Big Show. McMahon goes with Rikishi. Vince shoves Flair.

-Now we get Jeff Hardy (accompanied by Lita & Matt Hardy). I didn't remember the whole team using Jeff's black lights in their entrance. Jeff is taking on Billy, with Chuck & Rico. Lita is wearing too many clothes.
-Billy & Chuck's music is still as hilarious today as it was in 2002.

-Jeff is crazy over with the fans. And damn was he lightning quick back then.
-Lita hits the worst Litacanrana ever. She basically landed with both legs on one of Rico's shoulders.

-Now we get this odd "I Was There" WWF Live commercial.

-Now Vince & Ric split up the Dudley Boyz. I remember when that happened.

-Rikishi vs William Regal for the European Championship. Still one of my favorite looking belts.
-Before the match can get started we get Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman interrupting. Brock Lesnar absolutely destroys Rikishi. He was such a ****ing specimen back then.

-We now go to WWF New York with...Jazz...she used the term b.itch twice. Scary broad.

-Vince gets another "you are...an *******" chant. And he chooses Brock Lesnar. SWERVE! it's not his pick. Flair comes out and chooses Brock Lesnar. Vince says he'll take someone with just as much potential as Brock Lesnar...Mark Henry.

-Now we get William Regal chosen by Flair. Vince rounds out his picks by taking...the Hardcore champion, Maven. Flair chooses Lita. McMahon giving Flair grief for taking Lita. He just took Maven!? ****ing Maven!

-Flair leads the crowd in another "you are...an *******" chant. Ah, simpler times in the WWF.

-They are showing a rundown of the top 10 picks for each show. Flair's RAW brand blows McMahon's Smackdown! out of the water. Although Angle & Benoit on the same show is outstanding.

-Now we get the much anticipated Angle vs RVD match.
-Angle with a sick German suplex to start. RVD was so much smoother and quicker back then. He moves have not gotten better with age (as you'd expect).
-Two more Germans from Angle.
-Tim White just took a huge kick from RVD off the top rope. (Mr. White, that doesn't seem wise)
-Angle Slam & Ankle Lock, but White has disqualified Angle. Edge comes out to stop Angle, but Angle hits a German suplex on him. Spear by Edge! Now here come all the refs to break up. Teddy Long has to be having a really tough time not bringing out someone else so he can make a tag team match, playa!
-Disappointing that the RVD/Angle match didn't get any time.

-Time for our main event. After seeing Steph's outfit, I remember what night this is....is this the night Stephanie's boob pops out of her outfit?

-I really miss Triple H's "My Time" theme.

-Stephanie is like 24 or 25 at this time! Damn.

-Triple H pins Stephanie after a huge spine buster. He didn't hold back one bit with that thing! So she has to leave the WWF (FOREVER!...which I guess she technically does. We don't see her again until it's known as the WWE)
