c - willis reed, dwight howard, zydrunas ilgauskas
pf - larry bird, shawn kemp
sf - julius erving, bruce bowen
sg - george gervin, world b. free
pg - steve nash, maurice cheeks, derrick rose
Offense - I'm giddy at the thought of Larry Bird & Steve Nash playing together. That offense would run great...uuuntil the ball got to Gervin. I would just run your offense through Bird in the post, or run pick & roll's with Nash & Reed/Kemp. But somewhere in there, you better get Gervin some touches. Larry Bird & Steve Nash are going to average 10+ alley oops to Dwight, Erving, & Kemp. I do like that several of your guys are off ball offensive players. I can't even imagine how many back screens Reed could set to open up lobs to Dr. J or Gervin or Kemp. You have a very solid blend of shooters & passers. 10/10
Defense - Reed was a banger, but I don't know if he could guard prime Wilt, prime Shaq, prime Hakeem, prime Jabbar, etc. You do have Dwight, but he has a tendency to get out of position trying to block shots all the time. Kemp was never a great interior defender, though he did get some highlight blocks. Bird was a good off ball defender. Gervin's defense? ha. Erving was an average defender who got a lot of weak side blocks. Steve Nash? again..ha. However, Maurice Cheeks was a great defender, and Rose is very solid (though I attribute his defense more to the system.) Bruce Bowen was a very good defender. World B. Free? average, at best. You could certainly put a great line up out there with Dwight, Reed, Bowen, Rose, Cheeks and have a solid defense, though they're a bit undersized inside & in the back court. But, if your starters are who I think they would be - Reed, Kemp, Bird, Gervin, Nash - you better hope your offense is as good as I rated it..8/10
Chemistry - Gervin had as big an ego as anyone. Kemp had a bit of an ego, but I wouldn't worry about it with Reed, Bird, Erving, Nash, Cheeks, & Dwight on the team. Bird would clearly be the vocal leader, as Nash, Erving, Dwight, & Rose are pretty quiet guys. I think as long as you can keep Gervin happy with the amount of shots he takes, you won't have much issue. 9/10
Durability - Reed didn't miss many games until late in his career. Same with Bird. and both often played injured. Dr. J & Gervin rarely missed games. Kemp was healthy for most of his prime. Dwight never misses games. Nash missed a lot of games in Dallas, but hasn't missed many during his prime & after. Ilgauskas only played a full season once in his career, and we know about his foot problems. Bowen missed a lot of games early in his career, but after he got to the Spurs, he played almost every game. Cheeks & Rose rarely missed/miss games. But, you have several guys who missed a lot of games in the second half of their careers (Bird, Kemp, Reed) and a few who missed several games in the first half of their careers (Nash, Bowen). and World B. Free never played a full season, and only topped 75 games four times. 8/10
Depth - I actually think you could put in a bench team that would be almost as good (if not better than) your starters. I envision your starters being Reed, Kemp, Bird, Gervin, Nash, and you could have a bench of Ilgauskas, Dwight, Erving, Rose, & Cheeks/B. Free...not a huge drop off there. I like your depth, but I'm not sure about your offense with that second line up. 9/10
