Year 1 Preseason Week 2 - Cowboys Dominate Early, Falter Late

The Cowboys scores early and often before a late charge by the Ravens closed the gap and nearly stole a victory.

During the 1st quarter, when the starters were on the field, the Cowboys took a 10-0 lead on a Demarco Murray 3 yard touchdown run, after an 8 minute opening drive, and a 42 yard field goal by Dan Bailey on their second drive.

Teams traded field goals in the 2nd quarter, leaving the Cowboys with a 13-3 lead at the half, but the Cowboys weren't done. Gavin Escobar scored on a 9 yard pass from Brandon Weeded early in the 3rd quarter, and a third field goal by Dan Bailey gave the Cowboys a 23-3 lead late into the third quarter.

Game over, right? Not so fast.

A 49 yard field goal by Justin Tucker closed the scoring in the 3rd quarter and the lead was cut to 23-6.

The score remained here until Owen Daniels scored on an 80 yard catch and run on an out route with 3:08 remaining in the game. Daniels broke to the inside before turning out, fooling SS Jeff Heath and springing him for the score.

The Cowboys were able to answer on a 21 yard field goal with 1:47 to go and push their lead to 26-13.

The Ravens answered again driving the length of the field and capping it off with a 6 yard touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor to Crockett Gillmore with 24 seconds left.

An unsuccessful onside kick later, the game was over as the Cowboys ran out the clock.
