Get OFF his Back.
Posted on July 10, 2010 at 12:04 PM.
Let me start this by saying that Lebron James doesn't need someone like me to defend him or any choices that he has made. HE IS A GROWN AZZ MAN!

Now my thoughts on this situation are simply this, Lebron was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Simply b/c no matter where Lebron went someone was not going to be happy. Signs where pointing to an inevitable change at the end of the CLE -BOS series this year when a question was asked to KG in reference to what advice would you give Lebron about the upcoming offseason and he responded that just looking over his own career and what has happened to him in the past that he wished that everything that happened to him (going to Boston) could have happened years earlier. Now let's flashback through KG's career. Remember when KG couldn't win a series in the playoffs for the first seven years of his career and he never complained he always was the " company man holding the company line " the t-wolves kept promising to get him some help and they finally did with Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell. He only had those guys for 2 years with the first year losing the lakers in the conf. finals and then the wheels fell off the next. Then the organization said well we did what we could and they seemed to not even care about giving their most valued asset what he wanted the most not money but a championship. A very loyal and proud man was reduced to do something totally out of his character and that was to finally ask for a trade. And now the rest is history. The point is Lebron had the same choice to make stay with who he really want to be with or take an opportunity to get something that I wanted my whole life. So he choose the latter.

Now on the flipside of the subject there are instances where both sides failed each other in the Lebron - Cavs marriage. and I am so tired of people saying that Lebron didn't get any help from the team b/c that would be a huge slap in the face to the guys that they did bring in. When they wanted a younger healthier PG they went and got Mo Williams they needed a shooter they went and got Anthony Parker. The problem was that they was always a year behind where they needed to be. For example when they needed a physical big man to fight with D. Howard they had B. Wallace who admirable but just to short and not well used. They went and got Shaq in the following offseason. But that was not the biggest mistake in the marriage. The biggest mistake in the marriage b/t them was the coaching situation. Say what you want about them both Lebron and CLE, but if they had of gotten rid of Mike Brown just a couple of years earlier I know that they would have won at least one championship with the players they had. Lebron needed a dominant personality to coach him and most importantly a REAL Basketball offense to run. The names that are being toss out like Kobe, MJ, Bird, Shaq the common denominator is coaching. Over the last 20 years name a team that won a Championship with a terrible coach. Mike Brown was the equivalent of a middle school PE coach tossing the basketball to the kids and saying go play... make something happen. Yes they did get B. Scott to coach but again they were a year too late.

Dan Gilbert to me looks as bad if not worse than Lebron b/c if you are the owner of a major sports franchise and prominent businessman you should not act like a 10 year old school girl and cry and fuss then sell something at price to reflect the birthday of Benedict Arnold. ( C'mon man Seriously) but I can understand where he is coming from b/c his most valuable asset left him and he didn't get any compensation out of the deal for down the road.

Say what you want about the situation but my point is that get off his back b/c he made a choice about HIS future. We as regulars talk about how people are so greedy and complain about how everything is about dollars and cents but he didn't do that. In fact as much as I didn't like the forum that he made his announcement at least all of the proceeds from the show went to five different Boys and Girls Clubs across the country. At least think about that.

He dug his own hole, now he has to live in it. If he had addressed the people of Cleveland and the Cavs in a mature manner I don't think people would be nearly as pissed off as they are now. Art Moddell used to be public enemy number one in NE Ohio and to this day won't show his face in Cleveland. All that has changed now.

I agree with this blog for most part. His team in Cleveland wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but they surely weren't good enough.

I love your take. Mo was probably the 2nd best player behind LeBron, but they just couldn't get it done. To be honest, LeBron and Mo were the only reasons why I liked the Cavs, but with what they had, I'm not surprised with the decision LeBron made.

Its the way of the world these days. He truly was damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. The owner definately comes off more wrong than Lebron. The analyst will always critisize players because they don't have a players perspective. The analyst who actually played and dealed with teams, owners, winning and losing like Kenny, Barkley, etc all understand where the players are coming from. Lebron would have never had the supporting cast around him to win a championship in Cleveland. Its not only him though its Wade and Bosh as well.

They prob went to the olympics and was sitting around talking to each other about how they are tired of trying to win a championship by themselves and it would be nice if they just had a little help. They should be commending for wanting to chase championships and giving up money to do it. They are saying the usual things like there won't be enough balls to go around but in actuality they are all team players esp Bron and Wade. Someone like Kobe isn't a team player he will use them if it increases his fame and success but if he could do it all by himself he would be more than happy to. These three will be praised in the next year or two much like the big 3 in boston. Winning will shut everyone up.

My other favorite quote was someone saying he owed the owners a call about his decision and one of the ex player analyst was like how many hundreds of players get calls from owners saying they just been traded.

I have to agree with this... I mean, dude has every right to make any and all efforts to win a ring. Cleveland did what they could and still with him on the floor, could not fit all the parts together to create a winner when it counted. Players play and coaches coach - but no one can say LBJ was not holding up his part of the deal. The man did everything except win a ring IMO. So, Cleveland is mad - so what. Get over it and find another player to latch onto. He's left, he wants to win, and who cares if it happens to be on another team that has 2 other all stars on it - I can tell ya this, this year may be the most watched NBA season ever. EVER.
