Why would it be so wrong?

Why would it be so wrong for sports games to take the Battlefield 3 approach? By that I mean, adding to an existing game versus rereleasing almost the same thing year after year. I know that some will say money, but I have invested enough into BF3 that I have bought two different games. Graphics can only get so good on the current console generation, and even the next will have its ceiling also. So why not create a good base game with an online franchise, server side based, and focus on it for a couple years to improve it. Too many games seem to be lacking on the online franchise side of the game year after year. Refocusing the development team to a few items versus recreating the same game would be better in my opinion. Maybe it is because I am getting older, but I am tired of the hype they put over added shoes, 3d grass, ball physics (to an extent), more uniforms, etc….. Heck charge another $60 for the next year upgrade for rosters, uniforms, etc..

Anyone here else agree and/or disagree with my coffee influenced rant?
