Red Atchley, better known as Catfish Red, was drafted straight out of high school by the Yankees organization. It was his lifelong dream to play baseball in the majors, and that dream may come true with a little hard work. He first got noticed by the Yankees his junior year after making the all-state team. What attracted most scouts was the fact he could play about any position on the field, minus pitching. Following a few more visits from major league scouts, Catfish decided to make baseball his future. His parents were not happy with his decision, but he was determined to follow through with it no matter what. Later on in his senior year, college offers started pouring in but he ignored all of them.
Finally his time had come and he was drafted late in the first round by the Yankees. Yankees drafted him to mainly play RF and the occasional 3B when needed. Needless to say, his parents got over him not going to college once he cashed his first paycheck that included his signing bonus. Granted he was not a millionaire yet, they could tell he had the passion to make it to the bigs.
