First off, I am one of the biggest fans out there for The Show and I believe it is the best overall sports game franchise ever. However, like many other loyal Show fans I was excited about the new mode Diamond Dynasty (DD), but in my opinion it fell way short of it's hype. Granted it is the inaugural season for DD, but it lacks a purpose. First and foremost it does not seem to have any objective and/or goal that a player/gamer works toward. I agree with only allowing MLB players a ten game window, but limiting dynasty player to X amount of games hurt the longevity of DD. Another thing is the pitcher setup, is horrible to say the least, and games counting against them when they do not even start. Anyway here are my thoughts on the new game mode DD...
Anytime a new mode is released it is common to have some direction but it feels like there is zero direction DD. When setting up a new DD team there is absolutely no direction or objective on what you should try to achieve. Maybe have some sort of objectives list like:
Just have us something to work for. There are five different seasons, that is nice, that we know nothing about. Why are there different seasons? What is the purpose of the different season? Why was the first one only five games long? Maybe it just me but I am clueless on what the main objective of DD is.
Back to my complaints on the pitcher setup. In my opinion a pitcher should not lose a playable game when he is not evening starting/pitching in that game. Reason being, if I luck up and get C.C. in a pack of cards, I basically get three maybe four quality starts out of his allotted ten games. Obviously I will get more games out of my dynasty pitchers, but that makes the pitching rotation useless.
I really do not want this to sound a bashing blog because that is not my objective. There are a few things I like about DD. In general I like the concept behind DD and, from my point-of-view, what they tried to achieve. The individual card collections was a good add, and the incentive/reward program that went with it. Having an overall leader-board that tracks numerous stats was a nice add.
I personally feel they fell way short on DD. I know it is just the first release of it, but when playing DD it feels like a ton of stuff is missing. Additionally, it feels like you are working towards something that has no goal or objectives. Maybe I set my expectations to high for DD, but with this group of developers I was thinking we would get more. Their history of making a great game has forced my expectations to a higher level. The general game itself is great as usual but just fell short in DD. Obviously these are just my opinions and will not change the fact I will continue to buy this game year after year, but hopefully there is more to come with DD in the future.

- Win your first DD game
- Pitch a shutout (large reward)

I do agree with some of the things you have said here. However, the one thing you did not mention that has to be on the top of everyones list is the HORRIBLE lag for online games! How do they expect us to play online based modes like DD when they cannot give us lag free games.
Oh and GO VOLS!

I agree 100% with the lag and can not believe I forgot to mention it. Also, manager mode should be available in diamond dynasty as well.

Nice write-up. Most things I've read about DD indicate it's raw and needs more polish.
