skte1ement's Dynasty Blog
I will be starting my first dynasty entry. I have done a lot of work to try and tune this to be the most realistic game possible and figured that I should create a record of my games that would be fun to look back on.
A little background on the settings I will be using.
I plan on using Bills coach mode sliders adjusted a bit due to the new patch affecting game play. I will be doing this as I play so it might take a while to iron out, but I don't expect anything completely off the wall.
I will also be using coaching sliders to get accurate sim statistics as well as DangerDanjo's game plans, modified a bit to include saftey blitzes for opponent's defensive game plans.
I have never imported a draft class but will be doing it in this franchise. I am not sure which way to go with this because I have heard all sorts of different reviews of the draft classes. If they are extremely terrible I can switch over in a future season.
Week 1 Preview
The Denver Broncos are starting to look like Josh McDaniels team. After taking over for Mike Shannahan McDaniel's embarked on a two season cleansing of the roster. In his second season you can reliably say every player on the roster is a player McDaniel's believes fit his system. How they preform can only be a question answered by time.
Denver opens the season facing the Jaguars in Florida, the biggest story regarding this game will be Tebow returning home, but it is highly unlikely he will see any action in this game. Orton thoroughly cemented his spot as the starter in training camp, earning a contract extension. Many people predicted Tebow would be used in Wildcat sets but he has not seen any action in that formation in the preseason and McDaniels insists he is a drop back quarterback and will be used as such.
Jacksonville is hoping their offense can create a little more of a stir than last season after they averaged only just over 18 points per game. Maurice Jones-Drew will still be a centerpiece but to succeed they will need David Garrard to play as big as his 60 million dollar contract.
Both teams defenses are suspect, Jacksonville played one of the most vanilla schemes in the NFL last season and could not generate any pressure on the quarterback. This season they signed free agent Aaron Kampman to disrupt opposing quarterbacks.
Denver had one of the best defenses to start last season, but they fell apart in the second half. They were terrible against the run in the last half of the season. They acquired some big bodies in Jamal Williams and Justin Bannan to clog the middle.
The front seven is still very suspect though with the linebacking corp in shambles after Elvis Dumervil's season ending injury.
Both teams are coming off unimpressive seasons, and have big questions on the defensive end. Maurice Jones-Drew will be a good test to see how Denver's run defense will hold up this season.
