Communicate with the EA SPORTS Dev Team Stuck
Posted on January 20, 2009 at 02:07 AM.
I wanted to take a moment to share some of the different ways that we're getting our development staff to get out of their normal day-to-day routines and to communicate with the sports gaming community and what better place to share than right here in one of the top sports communities on the net.

I've always had a lot of respect for the team here because these guys know how to run a site and I really hope that our team at EA can take a few pointers from the guys here have done with this vibrant community. I feel the web is a big enough place for all sites to share the community and I hope that many here can agree with that as well.

I'm very stoked about seeing our NBA LIVE dev team not only on the OS boards but also posting blogs and articles on EA SPORTS World. Ryan Santos who is in charge of Visuals of the game is not only a huge sneaker head but also loves the music behind the game. He recently created a blog looking for feedback on the music behind the game.

Marcus, aka crazylegs, has got a lot of the NBA guys together to create a weekly Pick 'Em feature where the guys make their picks on three games of the week and I'll keep track of their records for bragging rights. Trust me, not one of 'em likes to be shown up...should make for some good competition between the team.

With the NBA LIVE Challenge in full swing after the first weekend, I'll have a weekend recap up tomorrow, so look for that. In the meantime, if you're in any of the cities the Challenge crew are making it to, make sure you get in on the action. For the first time, players will compete for a total of $25K in cash and prizes and the opportunity to 'Be in the Game' in NBA LIVE 10.

I know a lot guys are posting their best videos on EA SPORTS World and that's totally cool. I wanted to share a video I found on YouTube from delljr916 that I thought was pretty cool...even showing me some moves I've never seen in the game! Great stuff.

For the NHL 09 fans out there, the team has announced that there will be a patch released sometime in February to fix some of the major issues that have arised recently along with making some gameplay improvements that I'm confident the Community will be pleased with. I've also got Jason Rupert, NHL Gameplay Programmer, on our forums to help answer the plethora of questions from our passionate players.

Love to see the 3 on 3 NHL Questions here on OS and I'll be sure to pass those on to the team and get their feedback.

Of course, don't forget to post your best NHL 09 and NBA 09 highlights to make each game's Top 10. Even if you post them here on the OS forums, you still may find them making the Top 10 as we scour not only our boards, but here too!

For you NCAA Basketball fans, our producers have put together their first Top 25 Rankings to be put out every Monday evenings to give their take on the best in the nation.

For you Fight Night Round 4 fans, we've put up a video of our producers checking out some gear they received from Lonsdale recently. It's a pretty funny video and we've got a couple more that will be out over the next week. These guys are really into the community spirit and enjoy listening and participating in getting the inside word out on the game. Really looking forward to our Community Day Event next February with the team and the Community Leaders.

Tennis anyone? We just went live with our Tennis '10 forums so feel free to chime in with who you think should be on the cover of the newest EA SPORTS game. It's pretty quiet in there right now, but a little birdie is telling me that we'll be launching the Tennis '10 website very soon!

Many of our Producers have blogs up on our EA Staff Groups page so make sure you find a moment and chime in with your comments there if you can't find them here on the OS boards.

One more thing...are you an NBA LIVE fan? We had a pretty cool 5 vs 5 OTP Challenge last month and looking to have another one this month. Do you think you can put together a team to go up against our dev team? Reply and let me know and I'll make it happen!

I look forward to hearing back from the community!

I'm enjoying NBA Live 09 (I'm just a ****** basketball fan). The instant replays are cool but its too bad they couldn't all be accessed at the end of the game like NCAA Football where I can edit them then rather than having to do it immediately. I don't like interrupting the flow of the game to save them since it does take a little time.

I'd really love to hear more news on NCAA football if you guys can provide it.

Now if we can finally get some good halftime shows......

OMT (Adam Thompson) frequents the OS NCAA forums although he hasn't provided a lot of info lately because they aren't allowed to talk about the 2010 version yet. You can go over to NCAA Strategies and discuss the game with Greg (producer) as well. Be patient. As the draft gets closer we usually get more info and hopefully OS can send some members to the community day this year.

I'll pass on the feedback to our NCAA Community manager who works at Tiburon. Unfortunately I don't work with the team there and have my hands full with the EA Canada titles already so I can't speak for them. I do know that they indeed value the community's opinion as do the teams at EA Canada so I hope people will continue to provide their feedback with hopes of improving all our sports games.

I know at EAC, this a new thing for the dev staff to reach out to the community, so I hope people will appreciate what they are doing as it definitely takes time out of their tight schedules to provide some of these stories and blogs as well as to ask for feedback. I remember even as recent as 3 or 4 years ago, guys were told not to communicate, but the way online has progressed the way it has, as far as I'm concerned it's a must for them to be out here and listening to you all.

It's all about taking the first steps...
