WEEK 1 ROUND-UP: ROOKIE RUNS ALL OVER JETS IN OPENER
Associated Press
New York - The Jets had a hard time moving the ball during crucial moments and had a hard time getting the ball away from rookie sensation Montrel Gibbons. With a dominating defense and a workhorse running back, the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets 42-21 to begin the season 1-0. The rookie ran for 164 yards and rushed it in for two scores helping the Dolphins control the ball.
"I just kept hitting it up there" Gibbons said. "You want an opportunity to control the game.
His jersey was soaked in sweat and caked with dirt.
On the other side of the field, Mark Sanchez threw 6 interceptions and was obviously frustrated the entire day.
The Dolphins begin the season 1-0 and go to Arizona to face the Cardinals next week.
